my smoke

my harvest was on the 4th, my drying time was 4 to 5 days, then i put 1 oz in each jar. have been opening it once a day until the mj is a little dry, then close and put in the dark closet till the next day. now that i look at the date its only been curing for 8 days or so, is that why its harsh and has a funky smell?? it gets me lit but the harshness and the smell is somethin fierce, it has a hay ish type smell. i read elsewhere that stress on the plant can affect smell and look, when it was a clone it almost died at about 3 inches, but came back to life. maybe 1 or 2 times when it was over 100 i may have let the leaves sag from not watering for a day, but not badly, could that stress it out? basically i dont want my weed to suck so if im curing it right and need more time let me know or if im just messing it up more let me know, if yall want pics i can post some, ohh and by the way i didnt groom it as if i were selling it cuz its personal, i left a little more leaf than normal, could that mess with the smell? ok thanks

Leaves are harsh tasting and have little THC in them, especially the fan leaves. I trim all fan leaves and all small leaves other than the frosty ones close to the bud.

Effective drying time can be much longer than 4 - 5 days.

Often takes 2 - 3 weeks in these parts.

Depends on the humidity and air movement in the drying place.

If weed is dried very quickly it often tastes harsh.

As a rule of thumb, once the plant is dry enough so the stems snap rather than bending then it is curing time.

Be careful- if the buds are still damp they may go moldy in a jar.

If you let the plant go a long time without watering just before you cut it down this will help reduce drying time.

Oh and get rid of the leaf like Stoneric says.

The leaves are fine .

Just dry it a bit more before it goes in the jar IMO.

Cheers for the pic, lol, makes things easier.
