Bag seeds

Are seeds from a bag of reasonably decent mids more likely to hermaphrodite than exspensive strain seeds? Is there anything that can be done to try to lead them towards being female?

i would guess it totally depends, but that's just a guess. lol I know farmerG has mentioned that seeds from hermies actually have a better chance of being female, from personal experience I would say it's true, but who really knows?

I would assume anyone growing commercially indoors would try to grow sensimelia (why bother with males when you only want bud to sell bud?), so any seeds you find would probably be the result of hermaphrodism. This is equally as likely with mid or high priced weed really, obviously if there are too many seeds this would limit it's value. If you get cheap brick weed (or whatever you call it) it may well have been grown without sexing the plants, so it will be full of normal seeds with a 50/50 chance of being male or female.

Going back to the seeds produced by the pairing of a normal female and a hermaphrodite female- both parents carry a female gene so the offspring can only be female (in theory). This is how feminised seeds are produced.

NB If the parents were susceptible to hermaphrodism then the offspring probably will be as well.

So in answer to your questions-

No I would have thought the chances of hermaphrodism were equal

and Some people say conditions during germination and seedling stage can have an effect on determination of sex- apparently alkaline conditions are more likely to produce boys and visa versa acidic and girls. Don't know if this is true or not tbh.

This is all conjecture-plant them and find out is the only way to be sure .
