Im wondering about fan leaves. I got a hydro setup now clones took off!! My experience is that some will grow faster than others depending on the situation. Anyhow i have one girl who has huge fan leaves. Anyone have any really good advice about trimming them. Ive seen people cut the leaves themselves in half and cut them completely off. Will it stunt their growth if i cut them or should i leave them on to absorb more light? Please dont respond if you have no experience.
Thanks, Jake The Snake

Leave them alone until the start of flowering- you may want to trim everything on the bottom of the plant then so it concentrates it's energies on the top canopy that gets the best light.
Later as flowering progresses fan leaves will tend to yellow and become tatty, remove any that wither completely. You can trim the fans to allow more light to the buds below them, like you say you can cut them in half across the leaf so the plant experiences less stress. I wouldn't remove too many fan leaves in any case as the plant uses them to transpire, without them the plant will find it hard to cope with temperature changes. TBH personally I try not to mess with fan leaves too much- the plant needs them to photosynthisise and transpire. Lol@ smiley
