my maui grow
so a few weeks ago i was given a maui seedling and it was very unexpected so i am not set up properly but i am working on it.It is in a small container that i drilled holes in the bottom of for drainage and the soil is a crappy organic miracle grow soil. I have it under a homemade 200watt Cfl right now in a closet. I have the light on 24hrs and have been watering with tap water that i let sit out before i use.
I recently bought a small thermometer that also measures humidity. it has been reading around 70 degrees F and 42% for the humidity. I just ordered a roll of mylar, a soil ph tester and a 3 pack of fox farms nutrients. i'm hoping to put all of this to good use. I'm not quite sure how old the plant is now since i didnt start it nor did i keep track of it from the time i received it. i'm going to say it's a about 3 weeks since i received it. here is the plant shortly after i got it ![]() here it is today ![]() ![]() here is the homemade light ![]() ![]() everything is going fine so far except for i have noticed a few small black flies around the plant...not all the time just sometimes. how would i go about getting rid of them? I also have some small brown/ yellow spots on a couple leaves. and a few of the leaves tips are slightly yellow. I know that this can mean over or under watering, nutrient problem or possibly the flys? maby i have the light too close? it was about 6 inches from the top but it is now about 8". here is a pic of the spots ![]() any suggestions?
