spider mite infestation

So my buddy's flowering plant has a bunch of mites on it and it just got sprayed pretty well with some insecticide that says it's derived from the Chrysanthemum flower.

It is in week 4 of flower and the buds are developing alright but you can see little mites moving on the leaves even after it was sprayed, and the leaves are starting to look white and powdery.

What do you guys recommend? Wait a day, take a look and if they are still there spray again? Is this the proper spay to be using? (it says it kills mites)

What does the white powdery stuff look like. Is it the mites small webs, hence the name, or is it more of a batritis/mold powder? Also I'm not sure what insecticide you are using, but it will take a few treatments to get the fresh crop as eggs continue to hatch. This will take some time, stick with it.

1) you have spider mites 2) you have white powder mildew

both of these things will drastically reduce the quality of the end product, and your helath.

Sure thing man. I never grew too many herbs, but I have been working with plants for 8 years now. You have 2 things going on here I feel.

Good luck man! Success with plants is in the patience and care you give them. As long as you aren't only loving them with water That's just killing with kindness.

Seriously, is it your buddy's plant, or are you trying to be ultra safe? Of course you can't answer that if you're trying to be ultra safe. I notice you always talk about your buddy's plant. Not fucking with you or anything like that, just curious. And sorry to stray off topic.

Spanky, you're not offering help of any kind.

The humidity is around 35 percent with more than adequate air movement. I'm thinking the white stuff would be webs or discoloration from the mites, not any kind of mold or mildew

You're making it sound like mites are impossible to get rid of.

The spray is from 'doktor doom botanics' by the way.

Despite or maybe because of all the dumb questions I ask here I actually know a fair bit about growing, but I can't do it because I still live with my mom. My good friend doesn't know shit about growing but has some spare space. So I help him out in return for free weed. It's a win win

From what I read about the flower and it insecticide uses, it does sound like its effects the adults and stops egg laying, however it will take a few cycles I'm sure to get rid of your mites. I wouldn't say impossible, but it's persistent work.

Here is some info from the site I found under the product name:

DooM HOME

Quote:
Doktor Doom Botanics Plant Insecticide Spray .20% PYRETHRUM Apply 2-3 applications at 5-10 day intervals.
The Pyrethrum is Chrysanthemum

Webs are REALLY obvious they look like webs, period. Anything beyond that I think you have other concerns.

I hear that story. It stinks being the green thumb with the friend who's all thumbs not green that it. These are the people who kill their plant ,the week I go away, with water.

that's what I'm saying bro's. it's not hard to tell the difference between webs, and "white stuff."

You say I'm not helping, but if you actually have PM, you are ignoring me right now instead of looking into it. Don't say I didn't try to help you. Because this is my last post.

Whatever man, I wasn't trying to be rude or anything. You just don't seem to offer much in the way of solutions. I was getting more of a 'you're fucked and you suck at growing' vibe from you.

It doesn't seem like mold or mildew would be possible with the amount of air circulation and the relatively low humidity.

We use "safers" and spray the plants, including the soil....there are some homemade recipes on here I think.....

Take them out of veg/flower and spray them.. make sure you get under the leaves too, let them dry before returning them to avoid hot spots on the leaves..(burning)..T his gives a chance to spray down and wipe the grow area... (avoid the lights or better yet, turn them off and let them cool down before spraying or wiping in there) Repeat in two weeks..

A cheap magnifyer will give you a good idea what the white stuff is.

Good luck!

This answer is ACE! Getting the undersides! These are good things to mention, because I just sorta assume these things

I'm the one who asked about his friend and told him I meant nothing by it. I don't think I offended him.
