I think these sorts of things are interesting, but I don't think they are very practical and can get a noob very confused.

I was told by my local hydro-store that you will never experience a single micro nutrient deficencey. It's almost always a mixture of a couple of them because these days almost all nutrients have macro and micro nutes and just feeding them a half-dose will cure any nutrient deficiency.

Also, it doesn't cover things like root bound or root rot. I'm sure there's more that I'm currently forgetting.

yeah i can see how it can be confusing especially to someone new to growing. A lot of its common sense though, like over watering.... burn from lights...etc.

It sucks that a lot of problems share symptoms.

Yeah, exactly, it just gives one example for all of them. Like salt build up can cause a number of different symptoms, it's just not really that good of a guide. I know it confused me more than it helped when I was starting out.
