to clone or not to clone, that is the question...
so i recently pulled off my first harvest, a few ounces of nice outdoor Hawaiian bud, and I started a couple seeds. Last grow, i had 4 tiny females, so i decided to go with a single large plant this time.
Ive been reading up on LST, and thought i would try my hand at it. Im starting the plant inside for at least 6 weeks, using CFLs because im a brokeass mothafucka. the plant got stuck outside by an inconsiderate roommate, resulting in a huge stretch. So i tied the plant down horizontally and pruned the top. its been a couple weeks, and now im at a loss as to what to do. the plant is completely horizontal. I could take it outside and it would probably do fine, but i dont know how well a horizontal plant would grow, or if straightening it would put too much stress on it. There are 4 top branches at at least that many side branches, so if she can't handle outdoor, i thought i would clone the shit out of the plant and throw it away. suggestions? really, i just need to know what to expect when i put her outside. It would be awesome if it grew all || || || || ======== (lol) but somehow i doubt it ![]() any input would be much appreciated. oh and i can put up pictures as soon as someone tells me how to embed them

You might have to support the plant with sticks or something but other than that go for it.
And also, make clones, why not?

so just to be clear, tying the plant down outside is a bad idea, right?
The clones will come in time ;p

If the plant has already stretched it may struggle to support the weight of the buds later. Nothing to do with being outside.

there's nothing wrong with helping the plant, up to a certain point.
there's lots of techniques to start early on. Just a simple tooth pick and a twist tie to keep the seedling with the toothpick. Or tie fishing line with those snap on weights to the branches to make them thicker/heavier duty. Or just LST.. I've done LST outdoors, it works. Just do what works basically. Experiment or use already proven methods, but there's only one way to find out. |
