Starting seeding out in Hydroponic System

Hello, All

I’m going Hydro. I’m confused on how to set up the system once my seed germinate in the rockwool.

What do I do next? My thoughts are to place the rockwool with the germinated seed in the hydroponic basket and continue to water it by hand. Until the roots work it's way through the medium and able to reach the reservoir.

Once it reaches to reservoir, I can now operate the hydroponic system and once the stem is long enough. I can than add the air stone. Are my thoughts correct? Any tips wood be helpful. Thanks

You need some medium in the basket for the roots to get hold of.

Clay pebbles, rockwool, coco, something.

The medium should be held above the waterline.

What kind of system?

Edit: Oh yeah, would some kind mod move this to the nursery?

It's a Basic system... 3 gallon tub with air pump. Ok, once it germinated in the rockwool. I should place the rockwool in the hydroponic basket with the water level just an 1/4" above the bottom of the basket which the rockwool would be place in and the water level itself would only be an 1/4' at the bottom of the rockwool. Which I will than place the airstones around the rockwool to hold it in place? Is this all correct?

The airstone should go in the water to aerate it.

By basic I assume you mean "bubbler?" Or is it a store bought unit? If it's a bubbler and by basket you mean a net pot, I believe you need to have the growth medium in place there (pebbles, pearlite, etc). Can you link to any tutorials or instructions that you are following?

Sorry it took me so long to respond back... I'm new at this and couldn't figure out how to find the replys to my posted.... I was following The marijuana Bible Guide Book..... It's really explains in detail how to grow in soil.... But not so much in hydroponic... However, I got it seeding in rockwool and it's doing well so far.... Thanks

Thanks for your reply..... I got her growing. However, how soon should I turn on the lights... She's at the stage where the two embryonic leave are opening outwards and two tiny leaves starting to spout out with the Marijuana characteristic.. I have a 400watts HPS....

Light is needed asap. Don't fry the seedling with the light, keep it maybe 3 feet away at first, you can move the light closer as the plant develops more roots.

Use the back of your hand to test how much heat the light is giving off at a given distance.
