time to get this goin again...

Basically im curious how possible it is to do a micro SOG-stlye grow from seed...


The plan this time around is to have many small plants going at the same time. Im working with a setup very similar to that Micro SOG idea i posted in that other thread. This is the first run though, and as i dont have any clones i will be starting a bunch from seed. The difference is that im starting with seeds so im gonna need more root space. Im probably gonna grow out a mother, but i plan to grow a bunch of micro plants from the rest of the seeds so i have some nug in the meantime.

So.... a few questions

1. How small of a pot could you use for a plant from seed? Like could i finish flowering of a small plant in something smaller then a 2 liter bottle?

i was thinking Veg first in something like a solo cup, Develop a good rootball in that, then repot to something like a 1liter bottle, flower in a 2 liter.
But id like to go smaller and quicker then that.
Mabey solo cup directly into like a 1.5liter and finish in that?




2. Whats the earliest you should flower a plant? i know you can basically flower a plant whenever you want, but whats the earliest time to flower giving the plant adequate veg growth time for a small plant?

Growing from seed won't do you any favours in a SOG.

You'll have to wait for preflowering to show which is going to take around a month of veg time. Otherwise you won't know the sex of the plants and they won't be ready to flower (and neither will any cuttings taken).

yup get yourself a mother and just keep goin off her... i hate seeds (now) takin all my time and not showin the goods for a while, go clone and get that sea

well, I was plannin on doing a grow SIMILAR to SOG this first time around. Not the exact single cola clone setup. Just small plants not really grown long enough to get too big or much more then the main cola.


What exactly is wrong with my plan?
growing a bunch of seeds out, Veggin them for a couple weeks, Sexing them through forcing them into flower. Then just flowering out those small plants while keeping a plant or two vegging for a mother for round 2?


also if someone could address the rootspace problem itd be much appreciated

They will probably not respond to forcing until they've shown preflowering which will probably be around a month from sprouting.

Sex will be impossible to determine before that time without a well equipped laboratory and a lot of expertise.

Trying to force flower too soon will stress them so you might get hermies.

Also after a month they might well be rootbound in the pop bottles.

Go ahead and try anyway - doesn't really matter in the long run- as long as you end up with a mother to take cuttings from.

Rootspace- you need the same for a plant of a given size regardless if it is a cutting or from seed.
You're going to need a larger minimum from seed because of the longer necessary veg time.
