outdoors do's and dont's?

its my first time around growing outside
ive about 11 plants outside
from short bushy ones to 7inch tall lanky ones

ive put some goose n duck compost on em with good soil and make sure they stay hydrated, they get plenty of sun

(sorry no pics, i've got 2 digital cameras but for one i lost the usb cable and to the other i lost the battery charger we might go to town this weekend so I'll try to get a cable or cheapo camera)

I was wondering if there's just any major do's and dont's seeing how this is my first time around

i'm not expecting anything out of them, since i know i'll make plenty of mistakes but i'm hoping to learn from them

thanks in advance for your time and consideration!

Hi Mikey....~

any idea on the n-p-k of that thar goose droppings?
i'm asking 'cause i once bought some bird manure of some sort....and.....i soon noticed when i put them out and mixed up the soil recipe that things were looking 'HOT"....meaning i was sure that something was burning the young 'ones...

can't say for sure wether it was due to adding the bird shat or what.....so...i am real curious about your grow.

if i say correctly....u mentioned u have access to farm land.....any wet/swampy areas?....are the fields drained.....around a farm i have in mind there's acres and acres of little farmer-made creeks.....ideal locations for plants, they get full sun and you have easy access to water.

if there's one do i promote for outdoor growing is pest repellants as well as a good soil recipe and ferts that include B9's....molasses, nettle and slow release ferts too. 14-14-14 works well....

not weedeating a whole side of the house for 3+years has paid off
i can only access them from inside
so there's not foot trails in the 6ft+ tall grass

and it's on the side of the house that gets at least 10-12 hours of sun a day

i promise to get pics before this experiment is over

careful.....tall grass = grasshoppers 'n beetles.

play safe and shave the grass near and touching the plants for many very good reasons.

a few tips of some leaves are turning yellow (not alot just a couple of the extremities)but that's normal right?

but this other one has white stripes in the leaf like wtf

not even like a sun burn just like pure white in the middle of the leaf then it's back to normal

There is plenty of time between the male flowers appearing and pollen being released, don't worry about that as long as you check them every few days.

The stripes- sounds like sulphur deficiency. If the new growth is coming green then the problem may already be resolved but epsom salts (about 1 teaspoon per gallon water) will provide sulphur.

Have you found your usb cable yet?

It's my first time growing outdoors as well.. The biggest problem I've had so far has been insects. The incecticidal soap I bought really helped. About every week or two I'd go out after the sun went down and sprayed down the plants with them and then rinsed them with water the next day. Since mine are all begining to flower though, I've stopped spraying them.. I don't want to affect the taste.

Other than that, give them the right nutes and keep the soil moist and you should be fine.

well they seem all happy i have them in 2 litre pop containers

tomorow im moving them to big full buckets

now so far they were in buckets just full of mulch and i dont have that much mulch left, maybe one and a half brown grocery paper bag left
so i gotta fill the buckets for the guys with dirt wet it and put mulch on top (leaving the whole mulchy rooty part intact in the new buckets

so can i just grab any dirt or should i really go buy dirt at the store? ive got enough mulch to cover the top and give it nutrients and plenty of water but still will regular ground dirt cut it?

no i dont have the digi cam cable im sorry no pics

so just please advice advice advice
some of them seem to be doing rather really well

but i didnt think theyd make it at first since theyre facing super windy conditions 24/7 since were so close to the beach

so anyways can i just used regular dirt and out mulch on top or do i really should buy soil?

I think you'll do alright with the dirt, makes sure it drains ok/not too heavy.

Has the mulch been composted?

Have a peek in the soil recipe thread, might be helpful.

wow so i called a friend who works in the city and asked him if he can get me a usb cable for my digicam and then the smart ass told me if i still have the battery charger and the camera works i can just stick that little card into my laptop for the pics hahaaaa

omg i went months and months without this camera not being able to use but actually i could have the whole time..

it's mid august and we had a shitty summer not so hot in july, starting to get real hot now but yeah cold july, and they were all started late, none of them even have buds yet, i have learned to accept the fact that they won't produce this year, they're just mere pets
