Clones: How am I doing?
Hey, this is my first time CLONING - I have helped someone else before but wasn't around to see the effects.
To give a little backround: *These cuttings were taken 3 days ago (some from Red Rider Indica, some from Silver Haze sativa), were immediatly dipped in Clonex rooting hormone then placed in plugs under the humidity dome. *I only have the one ballast (2-40watt cool floros) on them for the past 24 hours, although I had 2 ballasts (4-40watts) and felt I may have damaged them... or maybe this is not enough light? *I have been misting them about 3-6 times a day when they are COMPLETELY dry, and misting the dome as well. I will occasionally take the dome off for a few seconds just to give them some fresh air. *I know it is humid in my dome but I cannot get a reading, as I am too poor to afford such equipment. these images are how they are doing now, some are yellowing with leaves but I've read this is the cutting stealing nutrients from itself... I was just wondering if anyone with experience could tell me if these guys are goners or are they doing well? =O the stems have straghtening out VERY nice but the leaves seem to be doing poorly IMO.. |

They look good.
The big ones are a bit too big for the cubes really but having said that they look ok so far. Try to decrease humidity a little. The humid conditions they've been in have been fine so far but now it's time for them to grow roots. Slightly dryer conditions will encourage those roots. Trimming the tips of the leaves helps reduce dehydration but with the humidity dome they're plenty humid enough ATM. Keep them at a nice constant warm temperature.

Really appreciate the quick reply -
So I should start leaving the humidty dome cracked (to allow drier air in) and should only trim the leaves if they become underwatered to quickly? Thanks again for helping a total NOOB!

As long as you keep the cubes moist you should be ok to crack the dome a little.

Will do - I will also post update pictures so other Noobs who have this same issue can compare and maybe you can reference them here - it's easy to find topics on this sort of thing but I always have issues finding images.
Thanks again Bro (or sis)! |

the dome doesn't have any holes.....my lids come equipped with a dial like cap so i can control humidity....in your case i'd just poke a few small holes in the dome....

I actually did poke a few holes on the top and on all the sides, there not that big but they are there - I also tend to take the lid off now and then for VERY brief periods to allow fresh air in.
**SADLY ONE OF MY CLONES IS DROOPIER, HEEEEEEEELP!** The rest look fine (To me at least) but my big'on is SUPER droopy - is this typical of the 4th day drier spell or is she thirsty? She need light? WHAT DOES MEH BABY NEED I WANNA GIVE IT TO HER! |

You can cut the tips of the leaves off or even cut the leaves in half like in the pic below. Not my pic.
You don't want the leaves to stick together or you'll get mould. Removing the leaf tips also reduces water loss. This is best done when you originally take the cutting but you can still do it now.

Welp, I dunno if I've lost her or not.
Seems like the leaves are even more ..wilted..today...:: Sniffles, wipes away tear:: yet the stems appear stronger to me - they are attempting to lift the leaves up again - because of this it feels like she's doing a little better... I trimmed most of her leaves and have been attempting to mist her exclusively w.o hitting the others,(hard to do with a MIST but possible lol)and kept the humidy about equal to what I had the first few days, leaving the dome cracked to try and still encourage my other clones to root. and she perked up some. I am going to assume lack of water was my problem since she's the biggest. I am still holding out hopes she makes it, all the rest seem to be doing pretty good and seem very perky (especially my Sativa's which came from a fairly sick mother, I know your not supposed to clone at that point but we were trying to save the plant somehow [even if just a little clone!] and actually the mothers rebounded since we took these cuttings and gave her a Nit/Magnesium boost). **Edit** Know she's not always WET like that, this is first thing in the morning so I gave her an immediate spray down - she looked a little better last night when I had been awake to mist her every 3-4 hours haha Here's some update pics. and any advice, similiar experiences (I won't consider it a forum hijack if someone else wants to post pics/similiar problems - that would actually HELP me) is always welcome and appreciated. Don't Panic!!
I think she'll bounce back. If anything you might be watering her to death, I can see beaded moisture everywhere. Just keep the cube moist. If you lose one clone it's not the end of the world so chill. It's easiest to kill a plant by over - nurture. Edit- trim any dead or completely yellow leaf.
