has anyone ran ventilation into your chimney?

i want to run 6 inch ventelation out of my room and into my chimney, the only thing that i am worried about is that my furnace and hot water heater is both vented above the place where i have to run my ventilation, they are about 6 foot up and the spot where i have open is about 3 foot up. i was wongering if too much air flow from the bottom will push the vented furnace and hwater heater back where it came from. i dont wanna spend all that time or money if it dosent work, or to die from carbon dioxide, can u shoot me some answers?

Not a good idea.
It probably will push it back down. Put out the furnace and HWH.

If you are handy a small chase in a corner of the house to a vent in the roof is not so noticable

^2nd that....without even looking at it.

Not to mention the fact that if you connect to a vent in that fashion would just increase the chances of something foreign being introduced to your ladies.

i dont know what do , my room is under my sun room in the gasement, no door totally undetectable. i dont want to make anything obvious, but it stays between 90 and 97 degrees in there, no ventilation as of now. im using a 1000 watt that puts off so much heat but it has 6 inch potrs on both sides, so i want to run my ventilation through my light and send the heat somewhere else but i dont know what to do

Running a fan into there might stop your appliances from exhausting properly- this could lead to all kinds of bad shit like carbon monoxide.

I'm sorry to say that I don't think that room is really going to cooperate with you with temps like that. I'm guessing that your room is probably 8x10 at the most?

Not trying to bag on you, but it doesn't sound like you did a dry run with the light so you knew what you were dealing with before you jumped off the edge, and committed. You clearly have a heat issue, and the light is a large part of it. Maybe drop down to 6 or 4 hundo.

You're going to need some kind of exchange that will bring fresh air in and pump stale air out.

I'm wondering how to vent and get in fresh air from outdoors as well!

The straighter the flow of air the better-less 45 degree angles the better in the vent tubing. Flexible 4 inch and 6 inch aluminum dryer hoses have served me well in the past.
1 to vent, 1 to bring in fresh air......marinate on that~

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it is NOT safe to run your exhaust thru the same flue as your furnace and water heater, unless your chimney has separate flues inside the chimney. Mine has 3, so I vented through the chimney with no problem. Just not the same flue as the furnace and heater.
