Early clone sexing questions

If I am going to sex my plants early by force flowering a clone, does the room I do it in have to be light proof? I know it is super important for a yielding plant, but I am just trying to sex my big plants.

Reason I am asking is because I don't want to force a hermie that the mother would otherwise be a female.

It's better if there is no light leak anyway, as this will slow onset.

Hermaphrodism would most likely occur later in flowering although forcing flowering early can stress a plant.

I'd just make more clones .

sex the clones?..........pee ps have done it so they can save space and not stunt the growth of the possible mother plant.

Either ways

- leave the mother (hopefully) in veg and force a clone to tell sex- the clone can then be re vegged, discarded or flowered or whatever leaving the mother unmolested.

-Or sex the mum (hopefully) after taking clones first. Leave the clones in veg until you decide what you want to do- discard boys, veg big then flower, use one of them as a mother for future runs, whatever. The mum can be flowered to check stretching, growth structure, if she likes topping etc. to prepare for a second proper run

I tend to favour the second method because by the time you've taken clones and forced them the mother will probably be showing preflowering already.
The first method doesn't involve making so many clones which might be boys anyway.
Both methods have their advantages in certain situations.

But yes I would avoid revegging a mother unless absolutely necessary. It tends to take a while and maybe it does change them permanently in some way, IDK for sure. It certainly slows them down in the short term.

I'm sexing clones so I can remove all the male's from my current grow. After this sensi crop, I will be planting my Holland's Hope seeds I just bought. I just want to get rid of the males to make room for the females.

I don't really know exactly how much light is too much. When I was trying to sex seedlings, I put my cuttings (clones) in another room with a box over them.

I sexed my cuttings in cups of water. I took 2 cuttings per plant, as trying to flower a fresh cutting, that has no roots, is extremely stressful and quite a few died. I always tried to do everything else as perfect as possible to not add anymore stress. 12 hours of continuous darkness is what was recommended to me and that's what I provided (I think so anyway).

Worked for me!
