120X120X200 AK47 600w HPS/other.

Hello

Just would like to point out that im totaly new to this apart from the 6 weeks i`ve been studying and 10 years worth of rolling.

I really didnt want to have to ask as i have a rough idea and i know people moan about simple questions.

My main question, Can i grow AK47 in a 4x4 tent under a 600w HPS. I have read even with adequate ventilation the plant can experience light burn?

I have a mylar grow tent 120x120x200 with a 600w HPS light system and a budget ballast. I know MH is better during veg due to the colour spectrums but i have read alot of people just using HPS throughout the cycle. I would like to start growing AK47 maybe 5 plants. I could fit a max of 7 but dont want to over do it.

I have tried searching (AK47) for infomation on the plants but all i get is autoAk or lowryder. Basicly i would like to use my 600w HPS in my current room to improve maximum yield but affraid they might grow too tall. Yes i could just buy lowryder seeds but i would like to get hands on in topping/pruning.

I have just recieved all of my kit and well excited as you can imagine. This includes: temp/rH instrument, Liquid pH meter, 5" inline extraction, 4" inline extraction, 15 meters of diamond reflective mylar, Oscillating fans, biobizz all mix soil, biobizz topmax, biobizz grow, biobizz bloom, Rhizotonic, pH up, pH down, Alg-a-mic.

All i have left to get is: Maybe 400w MH with ballast, cF truncheon, Clonex, Rockwool, Rhino carbon filter, Air con unit and about 10 meters of ducting.

Yes i know i messed up on the extraction by getting a 5" and a 4". Must of been pretty stoned to not to notice what im ordering. The tent has 3 passive intakes, not sure of the sizes yet as i cant get out to the garage.

Just thought i`d ramble on and tell you what i got and need, please criticise me or point me in the right direction with the normal strain AK47. Thanks!!

a few reviews i found

(i can't view due to a slow connection but if it's informative lemmy know)

Quote:
This easy-to-grow plant is Serious Seeds' most popular. It is of medium height and produces good yields quite quickly. Extremely strong odour and smoke, so take extra care over odour control when growing near neighbours.

The name is not linked to any idea of violence, but is more in association with the 'one hit wonder' that the smoke is. Quality without compromise makes AK suitable for commercial grows or home use. These plants have a short flowering period for a Sativa, producing compact, not too leafy buds that gleam with a coat of resin crystals.

The plant has thus far won seven prizes in various Cannabis competitions, including second prize for the Best Sativa in the 1999 High Times Cannabis Cup, which is proof that AK is a favourite to smoke as well as to grow.

Very strong, long lasting and pleasant high. An independent lab test showed 21.5% THC in the samples at the Cannabis Cup 1999, the highest of all entries that year!

Did you top/prune the plants? I also heard this strain is the one for a novice grower. Currently living in the uk so couldnt get away with growing outdoors. Mines in the garage.

Thanks for the infomation! The video is just pictures of the final product with a rockband in the background. I just dont want to grow the seeds if they wont have enough space during flowering.

i gotta give it to the indoor grower.....who has to invent/mimic perfect growing conditions.

the outdoor guy has to work with whatever nature throws at him...

i don't usually top or prune...being started from seed...one will only know the sex come august and if he was planning on bringing in some clones...then, why top 'em outdoors?

1 thing i suggest before the get go.....make triple sure no light escapes from the garage and careful on noise too!!!

Yes im very paranoid about that too but i think i got it sussed. I have set up the room already and tested temp/rH with the tent fully closed also no light leeks but when you`re in the garage you can hear the fans but from outside all is silent. Neighbours houses are only like not even 10 meters from my garage! So i can only really go out there when they are out as i dont want it to look suspicious. I tried setting it up indoors ad the Mrs couldnt handle how big it was so had to move out there. Livid.

haha yea. Must admit i felt abit cramped with it in the bedroom though. Have kids in the house so cant really have it anywhere else. Besides i get a whole garage to myself just got to be careful as alot of farms have been closed down within a year in the uk.

Anyways i know you dont really prune from seeds as you said just wondering if anyone will still know if i could control the height of this strain as ive been reading your plants OLH with a 600wHPS should be 1.5 feet away. I only have a maximum height of around 175cm with the lamp hanging. Surely im going to get more yield using ak47 at a certain height than using lowryder?

Would it be more safer using a 400w in this space? I can control the temp with a 600w just wondering if im going to mess the plants up if they get too close to the 600.

You should have no problems growing the AK in that tent with the 600.
The key is when you place them in flower. Don't let em get to 3' before you put the lights to 12/12.

You have 5.75 feet of height - 1.5 = 4' of usable height.
flower them at a max of 2' including pot and you'll be fine. If one does stretch out of control you have twine ready to bend it enough to keep it under the light.

You could grow any strain in there really.

Thank you very much, i will note that down in my pad

Remember me yesterday asking about the spiders...

The reason being was a got given 4 plants about 1 week ago. They have been through imense stress being apparently slung into a van then a car etc. Dont know how old they are but their around 5ft4 and starting to flower. 1 of them is doing great another is okay could be better, and 2 are basicly dieing on me. Its ok got them for free.. They strain is Lemmon.

Anyway i had a slight fly/gnat problem which was doing my head in, so i took your advice and kidnapped 4 spiders from my house and set them free in the tent. Its doing really really really well. The spiders are eating anything that flies in and the size of them now after 1 day is crazy.

Spiders must be the way to go..

had a thought concerning the noise!

can you build a box that you insulate to conceal better the noise within the garage?
better yet......build a few boxes and spread them out....we had to do something like that at the Lodge 'cause the generator was making too much noise...

i got lucky and found some roofing styrofoam from a job site........6 inches thick...
was kinda overkill but it works better than it would of with just rockwell.

haha thats funny as just down the road they are building new houses so fingers crossed as i need to save the money...

Good idea as people go to their cars every morning which is 5 meters away from the garage door. Could do with just insulating the whole garage really.
Also very paranoid about the helicopters that fly over.. Not sure if you live in the uk but its a big thing over here with the police and their heat sensors picking up unusual heat leaks from buildings etc.
Why cant they just leave us in peace to live in peace and grow.. It doesnt matter if its legal or illegal people make up their own minds if they want to smoke it or not. Police are wasting lifes/time/money when they could be making a mint.
Alc kills 1000s of people every year and destroys lifes, yet thats perfectly fine to advertise the promotion of it on tv etc. Crazy.
Just had to rant that out............ Anyway
I have the heat extracting into the garage not out of some hole that leads outside. The garage has a backdoor which leads to my garden and i keep it open to stop the roof warming up.
Suppose if i insulate properly i wouldnt have to keep the door open. The garage is fairly big with its triangle roof which allows me to store boxes or whatever on a second floor.
Would like to keep this stealthy as i just sold my skyline to afford the kit and day dreaming about owning a second if i can make a living out of this.

I have gone from a hardcore 65hour per week worker to a hermit who wants to cultivate for a living.

Life is too short to be locked up in a steel factory for over 12hours a day.
