Germination
Part one
Germination. For our purposes it is the act of starting a seed to grow a beautiful Marijuana plant. We have adopted this method of germination as usual due to the high number of older seeds we tend to germinate. We have had about a 90% germ rate over the last 5 years, even having 100% germination of some 16 year old seeds. The first, and no doubt the hardest part of this process is choosing the strain/cross to germinate. Once this is out of the way we can start actually growing the weed. First we will need access to some materials: A j-cloth or similar A sandwich bag, we prefer the zip lock style. A marker Access to hot water We need to rinse out the J-cloth very well as some contain chemicals to kill germs etc. ![]() Use the marker to write on the baggie the strain, date and time if you like. We used a more citified method this time ![]() ![]() Fold the J-cloth so it looks like it did when it came out of the package, or any shape you like. You want at least a couple of layers between the seeds and the baggie for moisture. Rinse the cloth with hot water. I mean so hot you can barely stand it. Wring it out, you don't want it dripping all over Line the seeds along the edge...![]() Now roll it up... ![]() ![]() Now dip the rolled up cloth into the hot water and squeeze the excess out. You don't want a baggie filled with water, a few drips aren't a bad thing. ![]() ![]() The reason for the really hot water is to soften the seed casing and allow the embryo covering to soften as well. It doesn't hurt the babies and it tends to cool quickly. Now we place it into the baggie... ![]() Blow in a small breath and close it up making sure it is sealed. ![]() Now that you are done ![]() We need to put them somewhere out of the light and warm. We place them in a box in veg where it stays around 80 - 84F. ![]() Check them after 32-48 hours and see how you are doing.
