I need advice to make club quality clones
Ok so I'm a little bummed right now because this afternoon I tried to sell a tray of my clones to the club... Of course I kept the sheet of rockool whole and brought the whole original 50 cuttings which he said I shouldn't do and go through and find the 50 best and put them together and bring em in... But he said that there was algae on the rock wool off the bat so he wouldn't take them so one question I have is how to prevent algae indefinitely without killing the roots
Then he said that a few of them looked pale and I geuss I see what he was talking about but I'm not sure how to prevent them from getting a tiny little tint of yellow on some of the bigger leaves... Could it be a nitro deficiency? At what point do I start giving them the nutrients and at what point do I remove the dome? He said that he thought I had my dome on to long maybe that's where the algae came in? Anyways I guess I'm looking for your guys tips and tricks to cloning that I'm forgetting Also another thing he didn't like that some of the clones were not the very tip part... I thought a cutting was a cutting but I was wrong about that I'll just keep all those "nubbys"as he called them and grow those out for myself Thanx for any help |

I have quite a few cuttings I have some trainwreck I have some afghani kush some w.m.d which is the amazing purple I just grew then I have kryptonite which I was told was a cross of space queen and the purps... I only brought in the trainwreck and a couple purples... This was actually my first successful outdoor grow... And the a.k looks awesome
I've tried to keep one cutting of every strain I buy from the club and a couple strains vie ordered from overseas but I think my favorite is this WMD |

Algae needs light to grow- if you can stop light getting to the algae it won't grow.
I think hydrogen peroxide will kill algae (a few drops per gallon water). To keep the clones in tip top condition the mother should be as healthy as possible in the first place. The sooner they root the better condition they will be in. So use every technique to help them root ASAP. Cut diagonally with a clean sharp blade when taking the cutting. Peel the skin away from 1/4" or so of the very base of the stem so as to increase surface area for water transfer and new roots. Use rooting powder or gel quickly and place them in the rockwool or whatever quickly to stop air bubbles getting into the stem. Trim the leaf tips to reduce water loss and stimulate root growth. Keep them at a nice steady temperature say 80F. Keep them in a humidity dome until the roots show. You can use a gentle nutrient like formulex but don't overdo it. They can't absorb much nutes until they have roots. Quote:
It's good I guess that the club are so picky about the clones they supply.

Also, I wish I had known the peroxide trick back then. My cuttings always had algae growing on the rock wool. Never seemed do do any harm and always disappeared when I transplanted. Sure was ugly though. |

However the more a plant is messed around with the more likely some genetic change or damage could occur I guess.
