"Curing" buds after purchase?
Hey guys,
I'm not a grower but I have purchased fairly large quantities(by my standards) of some very nice purple kush and some jamaican stuff too but I can't remember the strain. These buds were still quite moist when I bought them. If I 'cure' the buds in mason jars in a drawer in my room and burp them would it be doing anything for the buds flavor or smoke-ability or am I just wasting time getting around to smoking these things? If I am doing the buds some good what are some signs I should be looking for as to when these things are going to give me the best smoke? Also at what point would they be safe to throw in the deep freeze for long term storage without the fear of mold? Thank you so much for your input in advance. I know it's not 'growing' per say but I figured this would be the most knowledgeable place to post. |

Do the stems snap when you bend them or are they still damp enough to be pliable? If they are still damp, leave them in a cool dry place with some air movement, maybe spread out between a few layers of paper or card.
Only when they are dry enough (but not bone dry) put them in jars to cure. Once they've got to this stage they're good to freeze if you want, though curing for a few weeks will almost certainly improve taste and texture. Did you buy it by weight? If so you have grounds for some complaint.

i'd weigh it out before and after drying/curing.
if the diff in weight is at all significant your dealer is skeevy

Well the purps have been in jars for 2 weeks now and they've only dropped .2 grams in the last week and a bit with taking out the buds for 10 minutes a spreading them out. The Jamaican Pearl I don't think is going to dry out much but it's just one 1/2oz bud and I've got 18.2g of purps left.
Will just having them sitting around in the jars even if they've already been mostly dried still make a difference in flavor etc. or is there a point where they can't get any better? |

Curing definitely improves flavor and overall smokeability. It also feels like it increases the potency of the high somewhat, although I'm not sure if thats just wishful thinking on my part.

Right on. I'm usually rocking around .1g/night on the vaporizer so it looks like I've just bought myself a half-year to a year's worth of smoke that should be tasting pretty gosh darn sweet in the weeks to come ha.
