First Timer (bagseed)

Greetings and Salutations everyone. I've only been browsing this site for roughly a month but I've realized theres a ton of good information/conversation on these forums for growers! I've started my first attempt at growing 2 days ago with seeds from "mexibrick".

Yesterday I thought I'd probably end up asking questions about germination but this morning I noticed one of my seeds have already started sprouting from the soil.

I'll be posting here regularly along with pics of my progress, and Im sure I'll be asking you more experienced folks questions along the way.

Happy Growing everyone!

As of now I plan on growing indoors mostly, but I have 2 seeds in each of my little starter pods. I have an entire room in the house I can grow in with no problems or disturbance, but very limited funds, so I may end up putting some of the seedlings in the backyard somewhere also

This is my first rodeo so Im keeping note of everything I do to shorten the learning curve while absorbing as much useful real hands-on exprience as I can (which is another reason why I'll put some in the dirt outside). My indoor plants will be grown in regular soil also

I love baby pictures. Do you have a plan for lighting, soil, nutrients, etc? That windowsill won't provide enough light for long!

I don't have all the details ironed out as far as which particular lights and nutrients I'll be using. As far as the soil goes I just plan on using a mix of outdoor soil and some Easy Grow potting soil with fertilizer already mixed in.

Im constanly reading this forum and my grow bible to help zero in on lights and nutrients, but I don't wanna get too scientific with it just yet lol. I mainly want to keep it simple and learn the basics well before getting into the more complicated methods and techniques of growing.

If I'm just hallucinating, forgive meh.

But if thats really 2 or more seedlings in that one pot, don't let them remain that way for long. The roots will grow together and further cause stress when you do transplant, and its going to be a surprisingly short time until that bottle is rootbound regardless. Also, please cover the clear portion of that bottle. You want ZERO light reaching the roots and the surrounding soil. Encourages unfriendly organisms, and the roots aren't meant to see the light of day anyways.

Also I want to note that Im my indoor lighting is gonna be set up on homemade fixtures. I don't have the funds to spare on extra fancy lighting equipment, and I don't really think is all that necessary for a first time grower. Any advice and input will certainly be welcome and appreciated though =)

Oh dude, you may be in luck. I always do jury rigged CFL lighting with shit I buy at Walmart. CFL may be the way to go for you also, as its low energy cost, low heat, and you won't have to go buy ballasts and rigs for HID lighting.

Yeah, 2 of those pods does seem to have 3 seedlings, which is strange because I only put 2 seeds in each pod. The 3rd seedling on both looks very tiny compared to the other seedlings. But I have some small plastic pots that I'll divide them each into when the time comes.

And thanks for the clear bottle advice! I'll take care of that now

Cool.

You might want to put them into separate containers once they get another couple of sets of leaves grown- if you let their roots get too big it is difficult to untangle them to separate the plants.

Edit oh SAJ already said.

Is there ever a reason to have more than 1 seed per container? Not to harp, but I can't think of any.

I've done it before. I didnt have the $$ for real pots at the moment, and I ran out of Gatorade bottles, so I doubled em up.
