Reducing Light Cycle

I've got a few plants that have been in veg and am planning on putting them outside in about a month. Since they've sprouted I've had them on a 24 hours a day light schedule. In the past I've had a couple flower on me from the sudden change in light vs. darkness when I've taken them into the great outdoors. So my question is.. how gradually should I go about reducing the light cycle before putting them outside and is there anything else I could do to help them get ready for the change and avoid any shock?

18/6 should be fine. Anything less will cause problems.

Gonna try gradually going back to the 18/6 cycle over the next few weeks. I'm thinking if I change it 24,20,18 by week til they go out
