Question Is this worth it?

90W QUAD BAND LED GROW LIGHT UFO 90 WATT QUADBAND | eBay

I have a very small area that I need to keep concealed and planning on growing 1 AF at a time. Would this do the trick? Pro/Cons?

Edit:

Found this one too... http://www.amazon.com/Sunshine-Syste...pr_product_top

I'm used to old school HID lighting so this is new to me....if these really work as good as the reviews say I'm trying it.

I've never used them, but I know a few who have.

The general consensus us that they perform well in a small footprint with smaller plants, often outperforming a HPS of a similar output.

ie - the 90w LED will probably outperform, and be more efficient, than a 70w HPS in a small area with short plants.

But if you want to fill a larger area such as a tent, then HID is still way more efficient.

Edit - Just read this part of your post...

In such a case, I think LED may well be quite suitable, I imagine they're cheaper to run, plus run cooler so less fans are needed to manage temps in a small space, and thus probably much more stealth than HID.

the area i want to use will be a closet grow 20 x 24 x 54.

i want to plant 1 or 2 auto flowers at a time and after 30-40 days introduce another plant so i can have a perpetual grow and a constant supply or herb.

how about this light: Amazon.com: Sun SystemŽ HPS 150 Grow Light Fixture: Home & Garden

would this create too much heat?

any suggestion on a light for a small space that'll produce quality yield?

The cheapest hps I've ever used were outdoor light fixtures from Lights of America.

Bought at Home depot.

Lights of America 50 Watt HPS Wall Light, Bronze Reviews | Buzzillions.com

I used 2 with good results.

the best hps was a relatively expensive one from Future Gardens.

http://www.futuregarden.com/cgi-bin/...ml?id=B9oYEQWA

pricy, but the grow was larger and the light worked very well, in a 4' by 5' by 7' high area.

I used to have a 400w HPS, amazing what they do after trying growing under fluorescents for years...just an explosion of growth. But that's just way too much for me, now.

My plan is to grow a cabinet/closet herb garden for camouflage to the untrained eye and toss one or two AF's into the mix. Plus i love fresh herbs so it's win win.

Had a buddy who grew with a 75W HPS but his buds were always small and thin....i was contemplating a couple 125w CFL, the Ufo LED or the 150w HPS which i would love but i also don't want to burn the house down.

as long as you properly vent the 150 watt HPS it shouldnt be a problem.

That in combination with a few or the larger watt cfls should work quite well for a small space.

Edit: The large watt CFL's work well on their own too. The addition of the hps would just make it better of course. CFLs will get the job done just fine on their own though if it is all you can afford.

You can get 2 105 watt cfls for like 50 bucks or less on ebay. Either flowering or veg spectrum. they screw into any normal light socket.
the two of em could definitely handle a plant or two. 4 of them would only give you better results.
