ready to harvest?
what do you think about some NL plants who are at the beginning of the 8 weeks of flowering and they turned some leaves on dark colour?
I read that is for the end of phosporum (P) and it might be happened because two weeks ago I stopped to give them any fertilizer. Do you think they might be ready to cut? I would give them all the 8 weeks of flowering, but I don't want that it might be a problem for the hearvest... your opinion?? Last edited by il_zed; 11-14-2011 at 11:12 AM. |

can you post some pictures ?
If they have just started to flower you do not want to cut them now. Northern Lights pure strain usually does not produce dark tops/flowers. (white widow also) along with many other strains. phosphorus = (P) I think you mean...are the leaves darkening because of lack of phosphorus ?

I', sorry I mean they are at the end of the seventh week and at the beginning of the octave.....as you see on the picture, the plant who are closer to the lamp, just 3 4 days ago turned some leaves black. Is it the signal who are ready? yes, I mean the leaves darkening because of lack of phosphorus....since 12 days they are getting only flat water instead water + nutrients |

Perhaps the purpling is a result of colder temperatures combined with the plant using up the nutes?
I'd say all is good.

The plant will tell you when to harvest. Use microscope or jewlers loupe and look at the crystals growing they will swell up an take shape like a mushroom. Once they due they start with a clear fluid inside then it turns milky white then a amber color you wana take Her when she turns amber. The more you let her darken up the more potent the thc. Also when you harvest keep buds out of light and away from heat. Or your loose flavor an potency

not quite mature enough... they look healthy, but what you want to do is let their health run it's course and at the very first sign of aging is when you want to harvest, when the leaves look as though they're getting ready to give up the ghost.

i would attribute the dark leaves to the strain, that's just me. i don't see it as a sign of temperature or maturity, but that's just how i see it. and i don't think it will affect the smoke.
edit: are they more brittle at the tips? |

Yea they look close but I agree on the wait you want them to amber up a little in color they look a clear tp milky right now a little longer it will be well worth it. the purple color can be from colder temp. or strain in your case it looks more like strain is it possable you mixed up seeds? or is it bag seed? and not the strain you where told did they come from a breeder? You dont see any mold growing where the purple is do you?

somewhere in a stack of a few hundred cd's I have the old overgrow's big book of buds.
(also called the strain base) I'll see if I can dig it up and torrent it if anyone is interested.
