Pretty incredible discoveries re: myselium

Have several friends that are involved in botanical research and microbiology (Pink-Pigmented Facultative Methylotrophs and gene therapy, respectively) that I shared this with and this dude's completely legit. Pretty amazing shit when you contemplate the possibilities. DuPont and Bayer will probably have him killed before the year is out.

An especially interesting presentation for folks up in the forests of the Pacific Northwest. Plus I dig his hat.

Thanks, galt!

I intend to begin beekeeping in the future, as soon as I can, so I've been studying apiculture and this is genuinely huge.

Between this and the newly invented FlowHive, its possible that humans can help put a cap on the tremendous death of bees that has been happening in the last decade.

Yeah, everybody should be keeping bees. Well everybody except urbanites. One of the most disturbing things I've ever seen was a bit on how bee keepers in NYC sell their fucked up honey at the local farmers' markets and the idiots buying have no idea why it's so brightly colored... but they think it's cool. Like every other animal, including ourselves, they are what they eat.

So it turns out that the glow-stick colored shit was the result of the bees mistaking a pool of antifreeze for food. Some of the other blue and red shit was from the bees foraging in dumpsters outside of some factory.

A similar story came out of France where the bees were eating waste from a Mars Candy M&M factory.

Blue And Green Honey Caused By Bees Feeding On M&M's Production Waste

Not that Texas bee keepers don't already have enough problems (now that they also have the Africanized bees well ensconced there) but the bees are just loving all of those CAFO watse retention ponds and beautiful blue hydrogen sulfide wash out ponds created by the thousands of Fracking drill sites. The State has been in the grips of drought for half a decade, but they never ran out'a water for fracking. Just another of Ofuckheadbama's idiocy as he continues to promote this "Clean Solution" as his energy program. What a fucking douche!

Bees need pollen, nectar, and water, and they don't read so well.

This fella does a decent VLog on beekeeping that ya might wanna look at:

$600 buys a lot of foundation and frame.
My first six hives and frames were all built from free scrap lumber. I purchased the foundation from a friend who kept bees, and I caught the bees as swarms, so all told, including my gear, AND a 12 frame s/s centrifuge that I bought at an estate auction, I may have had $400 invested, including all of my miscellaneous tools and gear.

The Flow Hive is pretty neat but it's also basically an old idea done over. Can't remember the source but I read a lot of old USDA and Depression era farm publications ('cuz that's pretty much where I think the next melt down is gonna land us) and I recall seeing the idea somewhere in there from long ago.

Wood gasification is the same way. Back in the '30's the gov't was telling broke ass farmers (those lucky enough to be able to even own a tractor) to convert their gas burning tractors to wood gas. It's how the German people kept driving all through WW II, and yet today a lot of people are just hearing about it for the very first time, so they assume it's a new discovery.

There's probably a hieroglyph in a cave somewhere that shows bees foraging on 'shrooms thousands years ago.

One last comment on bee keeping. Depending upon where you live, this may be more of a problem than anything else for you. Because the empirical evidence that the ubiquitous organophosphates are in fact a lot more toxic to humans than the Monsanto scientists supposedly realized??? They, Bayer, BASF, DuPont, Dow and others have also been pushing neonicotinoids as a replacement (coincidentally these are both neuro-toxins that started out life as weaponized nerve gas... yeay Military Industrial Complex). Not as immediately deadly to mammals... just bees and other insects (read that native pollinators, which are all also in serious decline, go figure).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neonicotinoid

Everything on this planet is interconnected, and there is no room for ham fisted chemical, pharmaceutical, and petroleum profiteers to continue stumbling about destroying our environment. They never fix anything, but the Tragedy of the Commons continues its inexorable march forward nonetheless, and now as ever, still in plain sight. How the fuck do people ignore this?! (It's the discharge from a swine CAFO in Illinois).

I experimented with the Rose hive last season and intend to make all of my new hives on this design.
