Flower Me Short (Start of 12/12 to Harvest)

How low can ya go?

Right then, how about a start to finish flowering thread? Hell yeah.

The plant that is to star in this thread sure is young. Just 4 weeks of veg from first showing above the ground

This is deliberate, I wanted to keep her very short and very quick in veg to simulate a fluoro grow. IMHO this is around the size that you should flower at when using fluorescent lighting to light your grow. With some some luck she should stop stretching at under 18 inches and finish under 2 foot. Let's see what she will yield at this ickle size.

At this kind of height even with fluorescent lights she should get plenty of light and develop some healthy secondaries, as this one has, allowing at least a single cutting to be taken to use for a mum. I haven't taken a cut myself not wanting a mum from this but it could be done.

Simplicity is the name of the game in this thread. Hopefully, fingers crossed, the lack of ANY special techniques may encourage a few more to grab some seeds, pot them up and start to grow.

Anyway, following is the first pic. This is from day 6 of flowering. The plant had yet to show any preflowers (young, and kept on 20/4) and so at this stage is entirely unsexed.

Ickle ain't she?

Sticking with simplicity, and ease of availability, she was planted from seed into a small 3 inch pot with standard any-shop soil, the only consideration I had with the soil choice was that it's continuous fert factor was VERY low. Seriously, any good dark soil will do chaps.

The seed was placed 1/2 inch down and watered gently until the soil was moist. The only addition to soil and water I used at this stage is a heat blanket to warm the soil a little.

2 days later. Whamm, bang, thank ya mam.

Only a week after sprouting (first full leaves beginning to form) she was transplanted into her current home, a 7.5 litre tomato tub. Again this was filled with standard soil but this time 30% perlite was added to increase drainage.

Drainage is an issue at this stage and you must be very careful not to over water at this stage. A large pot like this can hold a lot of water and conversely your little seedling won't be drinking vast quantities yet so BE CAREFUL.

Anyway, this will be home til she is chopped so let's hope she is comfortable.

At 4 weeks and just before going into flower she had her first and last feed, an organic fert with an NPK rating of 7-7-7. These numbers are not weighted to flowering since she has only had (and is only getting) one feed a little bit of added N and K is always going to be useful.

Here she is again at 8 days into flower.

So, at day 9 of flowering she finally showed me her sex. And what a pretty little things she is too.

Now most of stretching is done we should start to see bud production begin. She was 8 inches before she went into flowering and is now at 14 and should not put on much more height so we're looking at finishing under 24 inches, two foot.

Jello is really awesome..I think it's the best munchie anyone can have. It's low in fat, cold, and it really fills you up...

So... a few days later. Day 12 I think and she's put on a little height but is mostly working on her secondaries.

Not bad growth for a plant that has been fertilised ONCE!

As a comparison, here is the same plant 24 hours later early on Day 13.

Node spacing is look tight on the main stem (meristem) and she is showing typical Indica squatness.

As you can see in the attached photo she is beginning to show pistil development at her summit.

She's not gone full frontal yet choosing still to tease, but I can see she wants to, she is gagging for her centre fold.

She has some good secondary development so I may seed one of these small side buds when they begin to get hairy. Seeds and sensi off an eight inch plant.

It's all too much.

Moving on again we're now at day 15 and pistil growth is beginning to really start.

This is actually when I think the plants are at there very prettiest. The strands of white interlaced with the strands of green at the growing tip really make me appreciate just what this plant is about to do!!

She has been drinking quite heavily, and sups a good pint of standard straight from the tap (we have OK Ph but not perfect, neutralish) every two days. This water is left to stand to reach room temperature but this is the ONLY technique used beyond allowing the soil to dry before watering (the tray the plant sits in).

This shot compares back to day 17, the further development of the top nodes is obvious.
