Hey thanks for bearing with me. I just tend to be a perfectionist on things like this. If I do something wrong the first time it discourages me from doing it again.

Ok. That makes alot of sense. The only thing I don't know is how to spot a future bud site (Im really a Newbie!). Once I know that I think Ill be able to train.

Ya so I should find someone with a female plant and jack a branch. JK..... ASK for a.. branch.
Only I don't know anyone that grows

Do you ever make a big plant just to take cuts off of? You could get alot of plants out of that.

But have you heard of ethrel? I heard that increases the chance of a seed becoming female alot if you spray the plants with it early in the growing stage.

Also: Have you heard of colchicine? Have you ever used it?

thx

No problem, my Mrs thinks I'm the same. I disagree strongly of course .

Budsites are just growing tips. Every growing tip will turn to start producing (female or male) flowers when the light cycle is adjusted appropriately.

Working with cuttings is preferable but if you can't get hold of any then you just have to grow out your first crop from seed and then select a mother from them. Take a cutting of all of your first plants before you flower them, when they are sexed bin the cuttings from the male plants and keep the cuttings from the female plants.

Once you have harvested select the cutting from the female which produced your favourite smoke to be your motherplant.

It is a commonly used agricultural pesticide.

I read a paper that indicated that ethrel could promote pistil production in (before flowering) Cannabis though it is not clear if this plant is an actual "female" as such or indeed if this is consistantly true.

In the context of botany Colchicine is used to induce polyploidy plants. In theory this makes all parts of the plants (leaves, flowers etc) larger but has never been proved to have any effect on Cannabis.

Positronics Masterkush is a common tetraploid.

To use a far more common and documented example, Fuschias are largely diploid or tetraploid, if a diploid and tetraploid are bred together the triploid offspring will be sterile, using colchicine to double the number of chromosomes in either parent can solve this problem and allow the breeding of two otherwise non compatible examples.

That OK for ya?

Hey if anyone sees this post and is thankful for Sureshot just let him know man.

Hey ok so a friend said that it's good to germinate the seed in a mango and feed it some orange juice(the donald duck kind he said). Makes the plant healthier supposedly.

So Sq. Ft.... does that mean of ground space or like cubic feet of plant area? 3d...

Also I heard you can grow your plant in pure worm castings if you want to and that that is by far the best fert. Is worm castings better in veg. or flower?

Also what is the best way to tell early what sex the plant is? Can you just give dark on a low budspot so it will flower early and see the type of flower?

And ..im embarassed to ask what is "scrog"

thx

Never used it as the sole growing medium so no comment.

I mix it with every soil mix.

Depends, strain by strain, plant by plant often.

Some will show preflowers as early as 4 - 6 weeks, some will never preflower.

Anecdotally males show before femmes.

Some people use this method to sex their plants. It's generally done using a black bag over the branch in question.
