"Tea Party" Business

What do you guys make of all this tea party business? I think the media that was already supporting this will make it out to seem like it was much more successful that it really was. Most of the people supporting this are only supporting it because that they were told to. I say told to because this stuff and equally shitty stuff has been happening for a long time, and the suddenly become proactive about this stuff because they see it on TV. The true power of teh boob tube.

Ya, but it just seemed a little significant. Its a nationwide protest, with some decent coverage and advocacy from the cable news networks. The Boston Tea party is glamorized as one of the big causes leading up to the revolution(not really certain what role it played in the events leading up to that, but as a national folk story, its a big deal). From what I gathered, it is supposed to be some kind of protest against taxes, government spending, and government involvement in whatever... i donlt really know.

No, they actually don't protest anywhere near enough imho.

I think these tea parties are a bizarre mixture of "income tax / federal reserve truthers" of which I am one, along with angry Republican Limbaugh-worshiping partisan reactionaries who believe Obama is the new great satan who will turn this country into the old Soviet Union.

I missed it this past saturday because I have a bad foot right now, but a bunch of people from Cincy 9/11 Truth and WeAreChange Ohio went to Cincinnati's tea party and distributed about 200 DVDs, each of which contains 3 films: Freedom To Fascism, Obama Deception and the new video Core of Corruption.

Demonstrating isn't taken as seriously as it used to be. It's got too much of a "Hey, Look at ME!" quality to it that it didn't have in times past. I guess that's the effect of living in a media age; every day you're exposed to dramatic shit happening, so it doesn't carry as much weight.

I think if we want to change things now, it will take something more than just getting people's attention. You will need a Gandhi-like figure who can lead tyranny to destroy itself.

Maybe thereís something more to it than a poorly organized group of right-wing tools and crack-pots. But the fact that Fox News aggressively promoted it so hard, and even felt obligated exaggerate the number of protesters, makes me suspicious.

Where was Fox for the March 29, 2003 anti-war protest in Boston, attended by 50,000 people, making it the largest rally in the city since the end of the Vietnam War. Where is Fox (and the rest of the media) during all the rallies for marijuana legalization?

I am for tax reform. Iím for closing the loop holes for the pirates that got into this mess. Iím not for turning down federal money to prevent the lay-off of teachers at my kidsí school.

I heard about it last night.

I believe there is irresponsible government spending, I actually agree with a lot of what the TEA part demonstrators.

Unfortunately, I can't decide what to do. Between information and misinformation, I don't even know what's what. Right wing is saying the media is going to make it seem like a smaller deal than it is because it is against their. Left wing says the Right wingers are making a big deal over noting, that it's a bunch of mindless knuckleheads following O'rielly.

On a neutral note, it's god to see people standing up for what they believe in.

That was corny as shit, everyone walking around with tea-bags and shit.

And drawing comparisons between these protests and the actual Boston tea party is pretty fucking daft. The Boston tea party involved extreme civil disobedience and vandalism. This involved protesting within the legally defined limits of free speech.

Fucking bullshit they needa stop making corny comparisons and call it what it is.

Tea Bagger Blog Fail of the Day
If you recall, wingnuts were mailing tea bags to various public officials, but, ironically enough, post-9/11 security measures were preventing the tea bags from getting to their intended recipients. So now there's an effort to send photos of tea bags instead.

Urban Dictionary: Tea Bagger

1. Dipping your testicles into the open mouth of another person. Kind of like dipping a tea bag in and out of a cup of water.

2. when a guy puts his balls in someones mouth.

3. In multiplayer video games, the act of repeatedly crouching over the face of a fallen opponent, who is forced to watch his/her body being violated while waiting to respawn into the level.

4. setting both testis into a persons mouth

5. Similar to the Yokozuna, where one surprises a sleeping/intoxicated person by placing the scrotum on their forehead, and usually taking a photograph.

6. When an angry bartender dips his nuts into the pint of beer and then serves it to a non-tipping or obnoxious customer!

7. To hold your penis out of the way, then slap your balls against someone repeatedly

Everywhere is freaks and hairies. Dykes and fairies, tell me where is sanity. Tax the rich, feed the poor. Till there are no rich no more. Population keeps on breeding. Nation bleeding, still more feeding economy. Life is funny, skies are sunny. Bees make honey, who needs money. No more for me. World pollution, theres no solution. Institution, electrocution. Just black and white, rich or poor. Them and us, stop the war. Id love to change the world. But I dont know what to do. So Ill leave it up to you ~ Alvin Lee

A bag of tea
pete@drugwarrant.com Wednesday, April 15, 2009

It's April 15, and apparently some people are buying bags of a different kind of tea (Pekoe, not sensi) and waving them around, or mailing them, or something, in some kind of FOXnews-run protest against taxes that don't exist yet... and gay abortion, I think -- it's been getting kind of confusing (it seemed to start as one thing and get co-opted so many times that I'm not sure anyone knows what it means.)

Also apparently, there's some teabagging going on, though people seem to be still learning the term.

In the meantime, there are a group of citizens that are begging the U.S. government to let them pay taxes, and, in a time of economic disaster, the government laughs at them.

So today, all they'll get from that group is a mock check.

this is simply the right wing of the National Socialist Movement (the GOP) in this country co-opting legitimate popular rage over getting fucked by the system into some pseudo-display of libertarian populism---from what I've heard--legitimate libertarians and other anti-tax radicals were marginalized if not harassed at these events.

Bottom Line: Fox News Fascism goes half assed into the streets
