Thoughts on the credit bill that is being passed?

I mean, its good that the credit card companies are being slapped around after doing all the slapping around since their inception....

but will it, in the end, hurt our economy? I mean, its not right for them to start being bitches about it - but they do have stockholders and profits they are expected to reach, so they will need to make it somehow.

They won't be able to give cards to as many deadbeats anymore, which helps decrease citizens debt, but does it not put a strain on the economy and consumer spending?

Also, they will undoubtedly be raising fees and taking away services from people who do pay they bills on time and are upstanding consumers.

SO really... what do you think?

Personally, I think its a great step.... but thats it, its a step, I don't think there is strong enough language to stop the CC companies from being bitches and cash hogs and further destroying our economy and keeping the money for themselves

What's bad for the economy is the fractional reserve banking practices that generate the bloated balloon of consumer and other credit that the western world has become so addicted to these last few decades. I don't think the government would need to consider reigning in predatory banking practices with it's left hand, if it weren't simultaneously using its right hand to give banks carte blanche to fuck up right and left without fear that their constant state of insolvency, and other abuses, could present even the remotest possibility that their indiscretions might come back to bite them in the ass.

I agree with you pretty much.

while i disagree with letting the banks just have this money as an always available back up to fuck up however they want, i also think that there is too much on the line to let some of them fail right now. I think there needs to be stricter legislation with the loaning out of this money, its returns, and stricter regulation to continue after this

its like they have been letting things get fucked up for so long, there isnt to much option at this very second to not help them out, although I think it could be done with more regulation and consequences for being shitty.
they need to learn a lesson

it should have never have gotten to this point

while it is undoubtedly a good reform it is far from addressing the real problem of the lack of genuine, strict usury laws on personal accounts and the expansion of credit due to the Fed-Big Bank industrial complex.

Something about Glass-Spiegel something or other?

Could tourists take guns into the White House? - Carol E. Lee - POLITICO.com

Could tourists pack heat with cameras?

Not if Secret Service has anything to say about it. But a guns provision in the credit
card bill President Barack Obama signs into law today touches pretty close to his new home.

Obama never really wanted the provision, but he wanted credit card reform on his desk
by Memorial Day, so he let slide an amendment that allows people to bring loaded guns
into national parks.

And the White House is a national park.

Nice Try Republicans, I see you, I see you over there snickering.
It's a good joke.
