Well he had to do a persuasive essay on something that he believes in, and he believes that weed should be legalized.

None of that discounts the fact that he was smoking on federal property and will get double punishment...But good job to him fighting the good fight, i guess..

what a dumbass.

if you want to protest the illegality of weed, its smart not to do it by committing a crime on federal property. thats like protesting the iraq war by beheading a jew in front of the white house.

this kind of negates the whole stand up for your beliefs, because this doesn't really dfo anything to help fight the fight. He simply got arrested. Like the article said, you can't fight legalization from juvie.

Unhappy Good and bad here...

I used to stand with the Governor while we all smoked on the capitol steps in Denver. The stupidity of prohibition has gone way too far and would not be an issue if it were not for the lies perpetrated by our wonderful dishonest government that uses our tax dollars to protect oil companies while this far safer plant could be in use instead.

I am sorry for your friend. I applaud him for his efforts. This will stay with him for years afterwards as well. Maybe he should have brought that nice safe alcohol to class instead of that dangerous marijuana.

I'm gonna have to go with waves on this one. all he did was spark up in a school, it wasn't even any form of protest. i'd say 50% stupidity 50% balls. you say he's respectful and honest, but when employers and colleges see that drug charge, character goes out the window. with a 3.7 GPA, it seems like he could have been a little smarter

Why oooo Why? this is going to be with him for a long time... and i have a feeling the law isnt going to be easy on him. First off.... I have never had a problem with the law, you smoke your weed and dont be stupid about it no one is really going to give you a hard time. There are alot of other things to be protesting.... he just wanted to be remembered by his fellow class mates.... congrats!

I know how important it is to win this stupid war, but please don’t do this. Sparking one up at a high school while you extol the virtues of the noble weed isn’t the best way to press your point and it’s very hard to work for legalization at juvie. Not to mention all the other road blocks that a simple possession charge will put in your way.

pretty stupid. doesn't help the image of those trying to get it legalized

I think this is great.

The kid is a juvenile. If he has no other priors, it will be filed away in a year. Even if it's not, a simple possession charge is nothing. There might not even be enough weed to even test.
He ate the joint. No real evidence. 150 people saw him smoking. But can they PROVE it was weed? He was only arrested for suspicion of possession. Most likely a misdemeanor anyway.
But look at what's happened. People from all over saw it on the news and it's made them talk about it. In the case of legalizing weed, that's a good thing.

is it just me or does it seem like some of the ppl calling him a dumbass are h8rs that usually dont have anything positive to say on any subject...

anyway to me personally he is a hero of the revolution. i wish i was as brave.
if i had an address i would write a letter to him, to help him keep his spirit strong.

i am deff going to send at least a couple emails to the authorities on his behalf.
Pierce County Juvenile Court
Address: 5501 6th Avenue, Tacoma, WA 98406
Email: pcjuvcrt@co.pierce.w a.us
Phone: 253-798-7900

i guess i dont have to know his name, since theres probably only one kid in Pierce County who smoked a joint at Peninsula High School.
i hope some yahookans will join me in writing to the juve court to urge compassion and mercy for this kid
