The hell of war comes home
Casualties of War, Part I: The hell of war comes home
Post-traumatic stress disorder is like a roadside bomb. ~ DAVE PHILIPPS, THE GAZETTE July 26, 2009 Colorado Springs Before the murders started, Anthony Marquez’s mom dialed his sergeant at Fort Carson to warn that her son was poised to kill. It was February 2006, and the 21-year-old soldier had not been the same since being wounded and coming home from Iraq eight months before. He had violent outbursts and thrashing nightmares. He was devouring pain pills and drinking too much. He always packed a gun. continued... ![]() 300000 Iraq & Afghan Vets Suffer PTSD & Depression Many Veterans are the Enemy in the D.E.A.th War The Blunt Truth: Combat Veterans, PTSD and Medical Marijuana Marijuana Therapy for Veterans with PTSD Marijuana, Battle Veterans and the VA Ganja 4 PTSD & Depression ![]() Veterans for Medical Marijuana Access |

very good post Ddc
i knew something like this would happen when the troops came back. These people have been exposed to extreme situations and death. They need serious psychological therapy. the government should expect the unexpected (literally) with the "terminators" they created during the fascistic era of GWB. |

This is why a lot of our veterans become home-less. Some can't manage normal lives after combat.

^^^^Thats George Bush's war that was supported by a large % of americans. A war for "freedom" and "democracy" A war that created a hellhole and complete chaos. A war that killed over 1,000,000 civilians. A war that created thousands of "new terrosists". People who want revenge for what happened to their country and loved ones by the US army. It will take them decades to rebuilt, but the psychological pain will take more to heal (if ever). Both on the IRaqi side and the US troops side. They took 19 year old boys, gave em grenade launchers and M16's and threw em in the battle field after being "trained" playing violent video games. All that in the name of democracy and freedom....(securing of OIL) hypocrites Now they got to deal (at home) with the "monsters" they created. Take your x-president (GWB) and all his buddies responsible for the war in Iraq and execute them on High Street. They are the worst dictators of the last 50 years. Equal to Hitler. |

Where I live the FBI prosecuted a politician for bribery, corruption, blackmail, extortion and some other shit, he is sitting in his condo on probation, meanwhile a common worker who needs psychological help because he likes to steal panties is in jail, for stealing panties from backyards when he should be getting help. Whats the teaching? its ok to steal from the government but not panties from the neighbor? We should be burning politicians for treason, that would show the rest of them the consequences of stealing from "we the people". |

Warning signs
The Hell of War Comes Home: Newspaper Series Documents Murder, Suicide, Kidnappings by Iraq Vets
A startling two-part series published in the Gazette newspaper of Colorado Springs titled “Casualties of War” examines a part of war seldom discussed by the media or government officials: the difficulty of returning to civilian life after being trained to be a killer. The story focuses on a single battalion based at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment. Soldiers from the brigade have have been involved in brawls, beatings, rapes, drunk driving, drug deals, domestic violence, shootings, stabbings, kidnapping and suicides. The Army unit’s murder rate is 114 times the rate for Colorado Springs. We speak with the reporter who broke the story and get the Army’s response. transcript ![]() Casualties of War, Part II: Warning signs After coming home from Iraq, 21-year-old medic Bruce Bastien was driving with his Army buddy Louis Bressler, 24, when they spotted a woman walking to work on a Colorado Springs street. Bressler swerved and hit the woman with the car, according to police, then Bastien jumped out and stabbed her over and over. (A word of caution about the language and content of this story: Please see Editor's Note) ![]() It was October 2007. A fellow soldier, Kenneth Eastridge, 24, watched it all from the passenger seat. At that moment, he said, it was clear that however messed up some of the soldiers in the unit had been after their first Iraq deployment, it was about to get much worse. “I have no problem with killing,” said Eastridge, a two-tour infantryman with almost 80 confirmed kills. “But I won’t just murder someone for no reason. He had gone crazy.” continued... An army statement said the military medical corps and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem would begin treating victims of post-traumatic stress - commonly known as shell shock - with THC, the active ingredient in the cannabis plant. It said the treatment would begin on an experimental basis. The use of THC as part of the treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder was approved by military and civilian committees relevant to the subject, the statement said. The Stoners Will Survive

The government took thousands of 18yo kids, right out of HS, gave em a gun and threw them into a hellhole with a mission to KILL. Trained them to kill.
They created terminators and i m not putting the word terminators in quotes. Because literally they are. When someone kills an innocent couple in cold blood (while they were putting up signs for a morning yard sale), its time for the authorities to realize that they got a very serious sistuation in their hands. These will prolly be the first cases of violence from such individuals who have returned from Iraq. More will follow. I even expect localised acts of terrorism from such individuals. The Army is the most fucked up place i have ever encountered. It traumatised me and i didnt even serve in a war!! Thanks for sharing the story DdC. This is a major issue and unfortunatly you dont hear it on the news, because they "cover up" stories. Only propaganda airs. Quote:

FDA Approves Study of Cannabis for PTSD
FDA Approves Study of Cannabis for PTSD
The long-maligned field of U.S. medical cannabis research took a step forward with the formal government approval of a study on the efficacy of marijuana to treat chronic post-traumatic stress disorder in war veterans. Dr. Rick Doblin, executive director of the non-profit Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) in Santa Cruz, Calif., said today in an interview that the Food and Drug Administration on April 28 approved MAPS’ protocol for a study of smoked and vaporized marijuana use for symptoms of PTSD. Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies MAPS' mission is 1) to treat conditions for which conventional medicines provide limited relief—such as posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), pain, drug dependence, anxiety and depression associated with end-of-life issues—by developing psychedelics and marijuana into prescription medicines; 2) to treat many thousands of people by building a network of clinics where treatments can be provided; and 3) to educate the public honestly about the risks and benefits of psychedelics and marijuana. Particularly, he discusses endogenous cannabinoids and the role they play in forgetting, noting that the ability to forget is a mental operation that is almost as important as the ability to remember.
