Protect President Obama



The right-wing hate speech polluting the debate over health care is generating more and more threats against President Obama, some truly frightening.

CNN anchor Rick Sanchez reports that when President Obama visited Phoenix, Ariz. on August 17, local minister Steven Anderson of the Faithful World Baptist Church, who strongly expresses hatred for Obama in many of his sermons, told his congregation that he wished him dead. In a disturbing twist, it was discovered that Chris Broughton, the man who brought an AR 15 assault rifle to the Phoenix rally where Obama spoke, had attended Anderson's sermon. In a later interview, Broughton said he concurred with his pastor's wish to see Obama "die and go to hell." As many as twelve men were seen walking around the Phoenix Convention Center with guns on that day.

President Obama faces 30 death threats a day, a 400 percent increase from former President Bush, according to Ronald Kessler, a veteran investigative journalist and conservative who recently authored a book about the Secret Service.



Kessler notes that funding cutbacks have already left the first African-American president in U.S. history particularly vulnerable. The book, which alleges that the cash-strapped Secret Service is endangering the president by cutting corners, has sent shockwaves through Washington. "There's no question his life is in danger." "Tomorrow, Obama could be assassinated ... simply because the Secret Service was not doing what it used to do, " said Kessler.

"We have half the number of agents we need, but requests for more agents have fallen on deaf ears at headquarters," a Secret Service agent told Kessler.

"There's a tremendous feeling within the Secret Service that they are risking an assassination," Kessler told Canadian TV.

As CNN's Rick Sanchez said on the air, "This looks serious. This almost looks like this is coming to the point where we are even beyond maybe where this nation was on November 22 of 1963, when JFK was assassinated, when there was also an environment of hate in this country."

As racist attacks increase and protestors continue to bring guns to presidential events, it is strikingly clear that President Obama is vulnerable to harm. Are the Secret Service and FBI doing enough to protect him? Will they confront and investigate those who threaten our president so that they can be prosecuted and jailed?

We cannot allow funding problems to weaken the organizations charged with protecting the life of our nation's president. In 2003, the Secret Service and FBI became part of the Department of Homeland Security and now must compete with 20 other agencies for oversight from their chief, Janet Napolitano. She must use her authority to ensure that the Secret Service and FBI put more agents on the ground to protect President Obama and confront and investigate those who threaten him. It is time for Americans of every stripe to insist that the Secret Service and FBI operate at the highest levels of effectiveness.

Why is a guy who preaches about a loving god giving sermons of hate towards a guy who is(at least on the surface) trying to actually make something good like keeping people alive with health for everyone? Why are people who are looking for god and good things interested in these sermons about hatred and death? why do these people think their loving god will accept them into heaven for hating other people? Why are people willing to move from another town to hear these sermons? Why are people even considering killing obama cause his preacher hates him? why doesn't anyone give a shit other than watching it on the news? Should I continue?

Ego Tripping

Just as it was for many great messengers before, to "kill" someone is only to strengthen their impact. While I feel Obama is protected and safe, even if such an incident did occur, it would not stop the momentum of which was started.

Death is trivial and common. It's the life that's lived that is what makes all the extraordinary differences.

Whether I or anyone else agrees with the policies and actions thus far, or whether or not he stays remotely true to what he's promised, Obama has already changed the face of America. And I for one, am excited to see how these changes play out within our society here.

i wish Obama all the necessary strength to change America and get rid of the neo-con nazism.

Because if america changes, then slowly the rest of the world will learn to change as well. And the whole world needs change. The problems are very similar no matter in which country someone lives. The elitists have taken over. The options are open for them and their families or their robot-golden boy-slaves. But no options are there anymore for the average Joe.

Power to the people. Demand it from now on.

No more corporate fasism and financial manipulation from the mega-rich financial funds.

Redistribute the money to the people. To those who actually work and produce something. Not the overpaid worthless golden boys.

Enough is enough. Its time for a revolution. To take back our freedom first of all.

Let Obama change "the system". Support him, instead of believing the brain-washing propaganda of the lobbies.

We re not living in the naive 60's damn it! Dont believe whatever bullshit they serve you on the news.


The system is fucked up and only serves the elitists. Let him change it. Give him the power to change it.

Otherwise our children will live in a world with no hope. Everything will be pre-arranged for you and you wont have the option to go against the flow.


Its not a hypothesis. Its a fact.

Demand a better world, before they take all our freedoms away. Then its gonna be too late (and difficult) to change things.

In the next few months I believe obama is going to escalate the Afghan mess even more. That alone makes me have little confidence that any change is coming. If we don't dismantle the empire, we're doomed.

It is indeed time for a revolution, or at least time for the working class to start saying "No" to the injustices of the system, time for the working class to start making their own decisions and stop relying on corrupt politicians, are we that dumb? Are we that lazy that we do not even want to make our own decisions and we let idiots run the country? Obama, though he was the best of TWO pre-chosen candidates, is not change, he will not change america, at least not in the "savior" way many are hoping, remember obama is, in plain and simple terms, a politician, another politician with an agenda, the system just changes make-up every four years, the people have to realize that they are the creators of wealth, their work represents wealth, government needs mindless workers to keep functioning but workers don't need government to work, are we that blind that we can't see that? If we are the ones who create wealth with our sweat and work, why are they the ones who spend that wealth on yachts and mansions and travels, and so on?

I think its time to bring back the "Just say NO" slogan, geared towards politics.
