In 1921, the country of Iraq was created, its first government chosen, and its future determined-not in Baghdad, but at a closed-door meeting of British officials and specialists in the Semiramis Hotel in Cairo. Two pro-British Iraqis were present.
History of US and UK Intervention in Iraq

What the british create, they may take away. . .with their american surrogates.

I was in my first class of college at NYU. Heard a big rumble like a plane flying overhead, and thought nothing of it. About twenty minutes later a girl comes barging into my movement class saying a plane hit the WTC.

I proceeded to walk home from the village with big pyres of smoke behind me up to my house way uptown.
I then watched video of my president reading a children's book after he's been told we're under attack and thinking to myself, "what a fucking moron."

Then we went across the street and had dinner at an italian restaurant while the plume of smoke slowly advanced uptown on columbus like a very slow moving fog.
Seemed to stop just before where we lived.

The net day the doubts about the whole thing started when I saw building 7 "collapse"

I was @ work testing some devices and listening to Howard Stern on 105.9 fm
in pittsburgh.

A guy in the next room said did you hear what Stern just said about a plane hitting a tower in New York ?

I said yea, run me over by my apt. (about 6 blocks), I'll grab my portable tv... cause the news will probably have pics.

We got back and set the tv up in time to see the second tower hit...and instantly I realized we were being attacked.

I got outta history class early, drove to the woods and listened to the radio with some friends. As dumb and stupid as sophomores are, we knew it was gonna tear things apart in America, and the next day assaults on American-Arabs and the like started and has not stopped to this day.

I was at work around 7am. I had just opened everything up and was waiting for the workers to get there when my mother called and said something about how "they were flying planes into the WTC". I figured it was some stunt by a nut with a Cessna or something. I couldn't get on any of the internet news channels, servers were totally overloaded. One of the guys had a radio and we listened to everything as the day went on.

I went home early, as did my wife and kids. The first time I saw any visual footage was after I got home. They had the TV on and I remember seeing one of the towers just collapsing and thinking, "Holy Fucking Shit." I think I slept 12-14 hours a day for the next three days. I was in shock.

I was at school, my mom came to pick me up, she was freaked out cause the towers in NY were attacked and that terrorists were sending antrax through the mail and since the post office was close to our school, she picked me up. Talk about ignorance. I watched the second hit at home and the rest of it as well.

Most important is where I've been the last 8 years, which is sitting here in disbelief that the united states citizens cannot seem to comprehend or accept that the US greediocracy perpetrated a direct attack on US soil, killing 3000 americans in an intent to spark an ongoing-senseless war against ghosts who we will never catch because they ummm, yeah they ummm, their terrorists wooooooooo, be scared of them and insurgents, them too...

Who else do we have to catch or kill to call the war on iraq a success? WTF AMERICA?

I was sleeping in calc... they held us there for a while so i put my head down. Over the loud speaker i heard something to the effect of terrorist, and i stood up, my first thought was there are terrorist in my school jump out the fucking window.

I am once again disgusted by many of you. This wasn't supposed to be a discussion on your two cents on why we think America is evil.... the lack or respect is gross

I don't really remember where I was. I remember incidents throughout the day, but not really "where I was." I remember crying a lot that day.

And adventure, I agree, but I will admit that it's hard for me to really get into the anniversary of 9/11 because what it really meant for me was it spurred me to investigate how corrupt the Bush Admin. (and other admins) were. I feel it was certainly an inside job to some degree, so the anniversary is bittersweet...the tragedy remains, regardless, but the sadness is now furthered tainted with a genuine distrust of the government as a whole. Kinda sucks, really.

But ultimately, it was a sea change for America and I know deep down it was a tragic yet essential event to our progress towards a healthy world...much like a healing crisis occurs when someone cleanses their body towards a healthy lifestyle.

today on september 12 my little niece was born. today was her birthday party. she's had a far greater impact on me than anything that happened far away on the day before her birth.
thats what i remember most when i think back to 8 years ago.

9/11 didnt really change me or the way i view the world, 9/12 did

1. The next day the doubts about the whole thing started when I saw building 7 "collapse" JcP

2. ...war against ghosts who we will never catch because they ummm, yeah they ummm, their terrorists wooooooooo, be scared of them and insurgents, them too..zerodown

1. Oddly, many people want to know why Building 7 went down. especially since it was NEVER HIT. In fact Charlie Sheen wrote to Obama this week, regarding many anomalies, especially why 6 out of the 10 of the 911 commission says it was a bogus investigation. Charlie has a lot to lose going public, like $500,000 an episode.

2. I think this is the first time we have had a war against a concept.

^^ war on drugs, war on crime, war on poverty, war on hunger...

but yes. This is the first actual "pew pew invading countries with tanks" war on a concept/mindset. It should also be the last, as you can't kill a concept.

I'm afraid the next ones we are supposed to hate are " certain Americans," like 911 Truthers, Tea Party guys, Patriots, Constitutionalists, Christians, anti-abortionists, non ClimateChange believers, vaccination questioners, etc. All those "conspiracy nuts " that will need therapy and Prozac.. . or just throw 'em in jail, fuck it.

i wonder if another president had not taken such a hard line- on the one hand maybe more people would "like us" in the world, but on the other hand, ill bet there would be no unified world front against terrorism with everyone from Libya to Saudi Arabia helping us fight islamic terrorists now.
They might like us a little more if we didn't finance Israeli genocide and refrain from slaughtering nice little mideast folks.

Same home (mortgage refinanced for lower % rate a few times), same job, same wife, but NO KIDS then = lots more money. Went out 1,000 times more. But my kids that we now have now are cool as is the money/sacrifices needed to support them in order for them to reach there full potential.
