Troop in Iraq wears Oathkeeper patch.

The oathkeepers are military and police personnel committed to NOT obeying an illegal order, as the Constitution dictates. Their presence can be seen as a patch they put on their uniform,
This picture is an active duty troop from Mosul, Iraq.

That's pretty rad.

I honestly felt there was going to be a troop mutiny back a few years ago after we invaded Iraq and there was talk of Iran and Syria. There's been record AWOL's since the war began. I mean, what could send a stronger message to the people if the troops won't fight the war? I know people talk about leaders ending the wars, but the leaders aren't the ones who fight them. It would be amazing if there was a large, collective effort on the part of those who serve to stand up against the complex...but damn, I can understand why they don't. Yet, power in numbers, it could send a strong enough message.

But this is a good step, nonetheless.

A lot of suicides also, unfortunately. The military makes it very difficult to have a mutiny, otherwise they'd been out of business long ago. This is a good thing though. I wonder how much they get fucked with.

Ego and I definitely agree on this issue. Back in the 60's they used to say "What if they threw a war and nobody came?"
Those troops who wear the patch and especially those who refuse to shoot civilians (and that could mean us someday,as we saw in G-20) are the major heroes going against immense peer pressure.
Similar episodes are going on with Israeli troops occupying Palestine.
Like Ego said..the kids have to stop enlisting.
