"like, im not debating with you whether it would be logically sound in a philosophical essay to call mistreatment of muslims racism.
im simply asking you if thats what occurs in the world we live in, and what observations might you derive from that conclusion. what does it say about how people perceive race and or religion, do some people consider them one and the same , do people regard one or the other as their primary sense of being, etcetcetc... i wouldnt write that muslim mistreatment was an example of racism on my anthropolgy essay, (altho possibly might make that case in a comparitive law class) that much i thought would have been evident from what i wrote. really all i was doing was commenting on revs poster which was interesting ,but then we go off on a tangeant which is fine, but hopefully u see what i was saying, and if like waves u dont care, then word, say something else. " "is mistreatment of muslims motivated by "racism" as it were or by "religionism" as you apparently seem to think it is. i think its far often more motivated by a racist view towards a certain ethnic group of people, but then that gets into the notion that most people have a mixed concept of race and religion so in many peoples minds its difficult to say absolutely which of the two was the motivating cause for the mistreatment. its just like hate crimes, should we have more serious penalties for crimes motivated by racism or crimes motivated by religionism aka religious bias ... if your answer is that everyone should just know that race means the dna of a particular strand of humanity i would respond that in fact most people dont think in those terms and trying to apply your views (of a college educated westerner) to the actions of people around the world is not very helpful in trying to deduce their underlying motives. " grieves please respond to some of that, cmon, but its not as fun as just talking shit so obviously i dont expect you to, when i try to make well thought out responses for the people i know and respect on here to respond to , im so sick of them getting buried by these retarded nonesense, go make your own threads if you have something useful to say. |

I think they're ugly as hell personally, and I would have voted not to have them everywhere either. Would muslims allow me to build 30+ foot crucifixes (not that i'm christian) in their lands?

The Dome is sweet. There is a Mosque going up in town. I can't wait to see a dome on the horizon.

The Islamic/Ottoman Empire controlled the Balkans from 1365 and ended their expansion into Europe when they were deterred in the Battle of Vienna in 1683. In the 1800s the Balkans were partially passed on to Austria. In 1829 after warring some parts became truly free of the Ottomans and Serbia Bulgaria Montenegro and Romania followed suit in 1870s. 1908 Bosnia and Herzegovina were annexed. After WWI, the Allies of OE were not strong, and left it free for dividing up by France and England. The Sultan as leader was abolished in 1923, when Turkey won it's independence and became an Independent Nation. ![]() This is how I understand it with in Europe.
