Sold commercially as an incense or potpourri under the names K2 or Spice -- Blaze, Red X Dawn, Zohai, Gemini, Yucatan Fire -- it is marketed as an herbal product and labeled "not for consumption."
It generally is sold in head shops as well as tobacco and convenience stores and on the Internet.
When smoked, it gives the user a marijuana-like high, experts said.
"While the herbs may be natural, the chemicals they are spraying them with are certainly not," said Calvina Fay, executive director of the Drug Free America Foundation and Save Our Society From Drugs. "That's the danger. It's different chemicals and different levels of toxicity. Just because something is an herbal product doesn't mean it's not harmful."
She also said it is four times more potent than marijuana.
Two Seaford men and a woman suffered the short-term effects of the substance, which include increased heart rate, loss of consciousness, paranoia, hallucinations and psychotic episodes. Less is known about K2's long-term side effects.

They arrived to find the 24- and 22-year-old men and 18-year-old woman experiencing trouble breathing and elevated heart rates. They also lacked motor skills and were vomiting. They bought the marijuana subsitute over the Internet.
"These kids were very, very sick," Flood said.

Thats just part of the article, but you get the idea.
the US makes perfect sense! keep a natural, generally low-risk, therapeutic/medicinal herb like marijuana illegal, and flood the markets with cat nip sprayed with chemicals that we know little about! its like weed (marijuana substitute?) but more dangerous! perfect logic there! its nice to see we're in safe hands.

I feel as though this article is stigmatizing marijuana into something that is more harmful than it really is, linking it to this "spice" stuff by calling it a marijuana substitute. You can't substitute marijuana.

I bet these kids just got really fucked up, got paranoid and called 911.

That is more than likely the case man. It still doesn't mean the synthetic cannabinoid agonists are safe at least for long term use though.

now, with the am694 chemical, i really pity the fools who continue to try these "novel" cannabinoids, but if the Chinese have demand, they will make.

Once pot is legalized, this JWH will be a thing of the past.

I smoke k2 all the time. I like the more psychedelic high, it goes really well with acid.

It doesn't compare to weed though.

Probation sucks, if your not on papers and smoking it your an idiot. If you are then whatever.

I'd rather buy k2 then schwag or mids anyday.

That can be a pharmacuetical no, no, and can lead to carcinogenic metabolites, but I'm no expert.

If your going to use synthetic blends I hope you understand that cannabis is verified to be safe and medicinal, while compounds like JWH-XXX, WIN-XXX, etc haven't been tested in even animal models sufficiently. I wouldn't be surprised if lab rats got tumors from JWH but I don't have any studies supporting that, so I should keep my mouth shut.

I toyed with the pure compound for a week or so and some enhanced passionflower. It was worth the experimentation simply because I got 250mgs for free but I ended up flushing it even though I had no means of getting cannabis for a month or two ahead. THC, CBD's, and CBN's are my home-boys.
I find it funny that your talking about how potentially dangerous a chemical is to one's health and then you flush it straight into our ecosystem.

k then.
