It happens everywhere, the "good" guys can't be good if the "bad" guys aren't there, thats why the US secretly sends money to crime lords(iran contra, venezuela's coup, iraq, honduras, etc...), they need bad guys so they can look good while doing very bad things themselves.

Can you say, distraction? I mean, if the people in Afghanistan were peaceful there wouldn't be a war, they fund crime bosses so that they can have an excuse to prolong the war.
