the blockade is gaza is for all intents and purposes ended...

and yet the reason it was started, a kidnapped israel soldier who was captured in israeli territory and then taken into gaza where he has been held in solitary confinement for 4+ years, has yet to be resolved.

....today israels foreign minister spoke to people in europe, following last weeks global protests for hamas to release gilad, in which the colloseum and other famous world landmarks were darkened as people around them observed a moment of silence for gilad..... today the guy beseached european people to "fight as hard for hamas to release shalit as you did for us to end the blockade of gaza".... not surprisingly, europe doesnt give a shit about the plight of anyone they can dismiss as juden....

...the us congress has passed dozens of resolutions over the past 4 years calling for the immediate and unconditional release of shalit....and yet, hamas wont even agree to a plan to release 1000 palestinian prisoners, responsible for the deaths of at least 600 israelis,,,,for this one 23 year old soldier who never killed a soul, and was captured in israeli territory...

fuck, all those benevolent europeans so worried about crisps and applesauce getting into gaza....glad to see they care so deeply about condemning an innocent 19 year old child to a life locked in some dark room in gaza for following the laws of his country and enlisting in the army.....

once again, just like in 2005 when israel abandoned gaza and watched as its old land was ransacked, synagogues burnt as arabs cheered and danced, and a day later began using it as a launching pad for deeper attacks into israel.... we see israel being forced by the fact that it is at least somewhat civilized to give in to international pressure and to give up more of its safety and security, for spurrious and dubious promises from the arabs, or in this case, for nothing at all....

but do people notice that? do people comment about how israel over and over makes gestures and actions that disadvantage itself strategically simply for goodwill and to be "humanitarian" to arabs....and then arabs go and kidnap israel soldiers and hold them ransom for half a decade, declare all previous plo agreements with israel to be "null and void" and lauch rocket attacks from the closest place they can possibly get to...even if that land was just given back to the palestinians...

i think that if the palestinians ever make a single gesture like the dozens israel has made over the years, there would be peace in a day...

egpyt and jordan said "ok peace" for about 20 seconds, and israel was ready to lock it up and have it signed sealed and the peace bt israel and those countries has stood for 30+ years.... as soon as any arab country wants peace with israel, they will have it....

so , no more blockade, but shalit is still in chains....

wtf?

You're saying the blockade started because of ONE israeli soldier being kidnapped? Isn't that the epitome of a disproportionate response?

Why has the blockade "for all intents and purposes" ended?

My god, those poor benevolent isralis. hammas 5 o'clock charlie rockets are met with the the strip being bombed into oblivion. The strip, where 800,000 children reside.

Are you a jew?

The only people I've seen put forth this type of bull shit are either jews or jew sympathizers.

Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against jews..
it's just that when Israel is involved in genocide and creating ANOTHER holocaust... I find it hard to be sympathetic to their "plight".

White phosphorous bombs are just a wee bit of over kill against rock throwin folks.

Or... maybe... Israel could be held accountable for it's continued violations of international law.

Perhaps if they quit crossing UN lines they wouldn't have their soldiers captured (not kidnapped)

Possibly, if they quit building in areas that aren't theirs, they wouldn't have their neighbors so pissed off at them.

Maybe, if they quit acting like a bully (knowing the US will back them) all their neighbors wouldn't rather kill them than look at them.

You know... for the good of the palestinians.

Oh.. and don't forget the Lebanese.

israel doesn't want a 2 state solution, they'd have to give back land. They don't want a 1 state solution , they'd be outnumbered and that nasty word apartheid would start popping up. They want to keep the status quo, they can't lose.
