That doesn't sound entirely unreasonable. I disagree with some of the author's conclusions about the current financial crisis, but his statements about the strategic value of Afghanistan are pretty much right on the money. Also, what he describes is not out of synch with the US's history of imperialism going all the way back to the Spanish-American war.

Interesting article.

Ah, a good read. They touch on the creation of an Asian energy grid that intentionally excludes the US, and the relevance of that in occupying Afghanistan.

Nothing too crazy, but certainly not mainstream either.

Is the author suggesting that the opium production is being harvested by US agents and distributed in Russia? Or are we to assume that they (US) have assumed it would make its way there anyways as it has in Pakistan?

I agree with the downplaying of the saber-rattling against Iran.
