Thumbs up Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger Just Decriminalized Marijuana in California

Not even a misdemeanor anymore - just a simple infraction like a traffic ticket.

No more arrest records for simple possession!

New Marijuana Law Decreases Penalty | KPBS.org

Now it's time to legalize it with the passage of Prop. 19 next month.

Sick! I also heard on the local news, Oregon will be voting next year on whether or not to legalize. I'm thinking, depending on what Cali does, we will likely follow suit. VOTE THAT SHIT IN YALL!!!

If someone told me a year ago marijuana would be decriminalized for personal use in an American state I would have thought they were high and rambling on..
If you notice the terminator said they didn't have money to continue having marijuana a misdemenor because the cost for judge, court appointed lawyer, imprisonment of marijuana users, ect. He didn't mention that drug cartels just a cpl hundred miles from Sacramento were raking in more money on marijuana than the whole GDP of California. and that,.. well maybe we could tap into that! But to say that is not PC.

Oh happy day!

My behavior will not change however. No smoking doobies in public. I've been smoking legal for years now, and it pays to be discreet.

I am glad to see some change in marijuana policy.

However, the Governor's decriminalization actions do not solve the following problems;

GROWING pot is still a felony

Growing pot will still be a BLACK MARKET operation

The black market operation of growing pot will largely be run by powerful DRUG CARTELS

The black market operation of SELLING pot will largely be run by powerful DRUG CARTELS and GANGS

The black market operations of cartels and gangs will continue to produce VIOLENCE in the streets when they battle over territory

The black market operations of cartels and gangs will produce UNREGULATED (and potentially unsafe) product that may be treated with pesticides, or contaminated with fungus

The unregulated black market product will quickly be SOLD TO ANY MINOR with enough cash

The BLACK MARKET DOLLARS will go directly to funding dangerous gang and cartel activities like purchasing guns

The black market will continue to drain law enforcement man power and tax dollars while all profits go TAX FREE

SALES are still a felony

Courts will still be clogged with GROWERS and SELLERS for TRAFFICKING charges

ILLEGAL GROW operations will continue to destroy national parks

ILLEGAL GROW operations hidden in gutted houses will still prevail

MEXICAN CARTELS will continue to smuggle marijuana across the border

MORE THAN AN OUNCE will still result in wasted police efforts, court hearings, prison time, and criminal records

KEEPING CANNABIS ILLEGAL means denying farmers and industry the ability to produce and use hemp as a fiber, renewable fuel, biodegradable plastic, food, medicine, textile, and industrial feedstock. It is literally the most useful plant on the planet!

VOTE YES ON 19.
