Looking forward for cheap holidays in the US next summer

Australian dollar marches toward parity with US greenback | News.com.au

THE Australian dollar is trading close to the highest point since the currency was floated 27 years ago.
The domestic currency hit US98.44 cents late this afternoon, as it extended its march towards parity with the embattled US greenback, The Australian reports.
The Aussie dollar had been trading higher throughout the Australian trading session, after official data showed the unemployment rate stayed steady at 5.1 per cent during September.
The jobs report found that the economy added 49,500 jobs during the month, exceeding economists’ expectations and showing the Australian labour market was remaining robustly tight.

I would imagine the Fed will reign in some liquidity here by around the first of the year, and send the Australian dollar back down under. LOL.

Or more like print more "illiquidity" and do the opposite. I'm tipping at $1.15 USD = $1 AUS in 8 months time

It was 0.60 USD to 1 AUD only 8 years ago.

I think Australia is still worlds biggest exporter of coal, wool, zink and uranium and one of the biggest exporter of iron ore, beef, barley, cotton and raw sugar.
Surely very dependent on importing power of China and Japan.

Just thought to bump it today when the Aussie again shot past the greenback, currently at $1.01 US.

Market posts sixth straight gain, dollar near record - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
Quote:
The Australian dollar has remained above 102 US cents for most of the day, which is just below its post-float record of 102.56 US cents set in December last year.

Some leading analysts, such as Westpac's chief currency strategist Robert Rennie, think it will soon hit fresh highs.

"If you look at the events in the last two or three months - we've had floods, we've had earthquakes in New Zealand and Japan, we've had a nuclear situation - we really have to ask the question, what would you have to throw at the Australian dollar to knock it off 97 cents?" he told ABC News.

"The idea that we could make a fresh record high is very much on the agenda."

The Australian dollar was worth 102.18 US cents at 5:16pm (AEDT).
