Chile - a lesson for Obama on leadership?!
i was reading an article about the mine rescue where someone said "chile showed us how to really deal with a crisis... they didnt abandon the people like bush did in hurricane katrina and they didnt pass the buck to bp like obama did with the oil spill".
now that statement is absurd for so many reasons not least of which is the fact that it was american drilling equipment and people who actually broke thru to the chilean miners. but its pretty funny that someone would say something like this. i guess the lesson for obama is to take ownership of things , as long as some other bigger country sends you 80% of the equipment and people you need to solve the problem.... hmm.... |

Politics is a big swirling cloud of bullshit. For example, in the Calif. Governor's race, one of the candidates was governor during the 70's recession, so his opponent has attack ads basically blaming him for unemployment during that time. It's all crap. But that doesn't matter, because it's all about how many people will believe you, not that what you say should be believed.

The masses are so easily swayed, or else they couldn't bs like they do. That is kinda wrong to be attacking American leadership though.

Why is it absurd, and what does the fact that some of the equipment was made in USA, has to do with anything?
I remember Katrina and the fact that it was Canadian rescue teams who showed up first at the scene, it took US authorities almost 5 days to get shit going. Chilean government asked everyone for help and advice, a few experienced Western Australian mining companies provided essential equipment and know-how too, it's got something to do with the fact that the whole rescue operation was a lesson for the rest of the world as to how crisis situations can be solved successfully, namely with multilateral unity and cooperation. Should we note that american killing equipment is being used around the world very successfully, every day. Be proud on that. |

I think it's a lesson for humans about how to treat other humans, and less about politics.
