Thank you, John. F Kerry for a logical counterpoint to my argument. However, I will predictably, disagree with you.
The analogy to selling peanuts to a person who is allergic to them, is justified but does not acknowledge the whole situation. In the 60's, when Civil Rights legislation was passed, a majority of the country was opposed to it. Surely, this was in part due to the fear-mongering and misinformation peddled by opponents to such legislation. Indeed, the idea of revolting against the crown during the 1770's was also unpopular among a good majority of the colonies, until they seen substantial progress years after the revolution had begun. To assume that the conventional wisdom among the American majority is always good for America is simply not true. That is not to suggest that American's are somehow unworthy of an opinion. Instead it suggests that we as humans are inevitably susceptible to the status quo and misleading arguments that are persuasively delivered, although these arguments do not always hold weight and are usually not based in fact. Also, I definitely agree with the notion that Obama's lack of explanation as to what, IN FACT, was done with the passing of his health care legislation was undoubtedly related to Republican mid-term gains. It is very important to explain the positive aspects, in detail, of legislation as far-reaching as health care reform, just as it is very important to point out the negative aspect of such a thing, if you are on the other side. Bottom line though is negativity is much more pervasive in our society than positivity. Although we would like to believe we are more interested in, and influenced by, positivity, we are not. Just look at the news, for example. Controversy prevails. And if you were to look at the opposing arguments of that health care bill, they were much more drastic, and indeed, apocalyptic in nature, although most of those arguments were simply not true and held no basis in reality. Explaining the bill in terms of "death panels" and "government takeover of health care" resonates much more significantly in the minds of people than a detailed explanation and break down of the bill itself. It was surely a failure by the Democrats to explain in layman's terms, the significant benefits of the bill. The same thing that happened many years after the civil rights legislation, and the revolution that created this country will happen with the health care reform bill recently passed. Especially in a time like this, it is understandable for people to be more susceptible to fear rather than logic. Anger, frustration, and anxiety actually clouds the mind and alters judgment. This is a proven fact, and explains why throughout history many presidents have gotten smashed in the mid-terms. Their is also the unfortunate factor that the majority of the bill will go into effect in 2014, half way through Obama's second term (yea, I said it). Americans are impatient and do not respond well to the idea that the legislation and investment we make now will only start to bear fruit many, many years from now. Undoubtedly, this will be a huge hurdle to cross. But that is another conversation.

No, in a time of war a nation is supposed to make sacrifices beyond young men dying for nothing. Yes, even/especially rich people (GASP) who owe their riches to the freedoms that are slowly eroding away in the name of "combating terrorism". I'll quote Jesse Ventura - "I would rather fight for my life against terrorists every day than have the government take away even one freedom in the name of doing so!" Put that in your gold pipe and smoke it JFK. Move out of this country if you hate America so much.

But we all know you are a trust fund baby who has never had to work for anything. You are a typical FOX news only spoiled brat from what I gather. Must be nice, but the rest of us actually work hard to support ourselves, and/or, families. To quote Warren Buffett, "Why should my secretary pay 25% of her pay in taxes when I (he) only pays 17%" Answer that, JFK.

Looks like JFK ran away!
Maybe he thinks middle class people are poor and that is why he references Obama's plan as giving money to the poor. What an elitist trust fund punk.
