Wake me when it's over...

...I will gladly stand corrected if it passes, but I can't help but feel pessimistic.

From the following article (bolding mine):

Quote:
Although marijuana already is available at storefront medical marijuana dispensaries in California, Prop 19 trailed in recent opinion polls. Every major newspaper, both political parties, the two candidates for governor and all but a handful of leading politicians have come out against it.
Wow, I love the profound difference between the two parties... NOT!!!!!

And as a 9/11 truther, I'm not at all surprised to read that EVERY major newspaper there has come out against it. And Americans (even Californians) are among some of the most gullible, succumb-to-propaganda-and-groupthink folks on earth.

The CIA owns everyone of any major significance in the mainstream media. - William Colby, former director of the CIA

Oh, and as Bush/Cheney stole two elections, why should I have faith that this Prop 19 won't be infiltrated by rigging and vote fraud?

I'm SO glad I voted for Cynthia McKinney in the 2008 presidential election and didn't fall for the Obama hype. Don't forget that after the election, the transition team asked Americans (via change.org/gov) what the number one issue was in which they'd like to see change, and the overwhelming no. 1 issue was "legalize marijuana." The official response: "President elect Obama is not in favor of legalizing marijuana." I knew that would be his response even before his team put it out. Frankly, if Obama had said, "Wow, the people are truly speaking. I should take this issue seriously" THEN my jaw would have dropped and I might have regained a bit of faith in the republicrats.

Like I said, wake me when it's over.

Well, it's not looking too good so far, unfortunately. It's not over till it's over, but the "No" votes are pulling out ahead of the "Yes" votes, fairly significantly.

I get that some people are for some things, and against others. What I really don't get is why someone feels they have to bar EVERYONE from what they are against, even when it has no real impact on them. Welcome to Planet Stupid, I suppose.

Its not like it would have made a difference: Legalize-pot activists push for upset win in Calif - Forbes.com

"Federal officials said they would continue enforcing laws against marijuana possession and sales, and have not ruled out suing to overturn the California initiative if it passes."

Which makes me wonder, what kind of democracy do we have when even if we join together and the majority votes for something the government could still just say NO.

Besides: I don't trust elections, on this technological age, elections can be manipulated so easily its practically a joke.

Yeah it's official...nonsense = +1. The politicians have once again told the citizens to keep those street-gangs thriving by buying their dogshit dimebags. Organized crime must thrive in order to keep those politicos greased. Keep ruining lives of people who have a few plants in their homes...toss them in a prison cell...confiscate their homes & property...let out a few child-molesters to make room for the dangerous grower. Make sure those pharmaceutical companies keep the briibes coming, so those politicians can take that Hawaiian vacation.
Back in 1974, when States were decriminalizing, I would've bet my last dollar that outright legalization was just around the corner. I had no idea it was just around the corner of Pluto!! I now realize that even though the 1st Prohibition Act of 1919 only lasted 14 yrs before FDR said, "Fuck this shit!! The only ones benefitting from this law is La Cosa Nostra!!" & booze flowed thru the bars once again. This Prohibition Act of Insanity will last way after my death. I've come to terms that I'll never live to see legal weed. In fact, they're probably waiting for me to die & then these fuckwads will say, "OK, zoltron's dead!! Legalize the shit!! This oughta piss him off in the afterlife for a few thousand years!!"

Time to regroup...

Hey the one good thing to come from this is that there wont be a gaggle of fucking lawyers doing nothing but getting richer of the backs of the people. No one is suing anyone to get their way, eh?

See Zolty, if it was a constitutional amendment that placed marijuana in the schedule 1 category then it would be legal by now, they decided to skirt the will of the people by not making it an amendment but a Congressional act, that way only the shareholders of Dow and DuPont and Merkk and Pfiser and Hearst had a say as to how to protect their interests...

Thumbs down Just goes to show you....

They would rather have crime and drug dealers. I wonder when the prohibition is going to work.

What's more ridiculous? A world in which marijuana is illegal, or a guy like myself who continues to be let down when the kind of idiocy responsible for that prohibition continues unabated?

I'm convinced I expect too much from my fellow homo sapiens. This is the world in which war, an institution that has brought 100 centuries of misery, still sounds like a good idea sometimes. This is the world in which people kill each other, sometimes wholesale, because they don't agree about an invisible God. This is the world in which people hold onto crazy ideas, even when presented with irrefutable evidence to the contrary. This is the world in which smart people are called "nerd" and made fun of. This is the world in which Sarah Palin is taken seriously as a politican.

People, we are an island of sanity in an ocean of cognitive diarrhea. And I, for one, think it's time to accept that fact, and learn to live with it, because it ain't changing anytime soon.

Defeated or not the fact that it got that far, the vote was that close and it got that much press coverage is a big step in the right direction so chill out ya sissies.
