More war
Midterm Elections a Big Win for Hawks
Pro-Intervention Republicans to See Major Gains in Influence by Jason Ditz, November 02, 2010 Though the reality is that most of the Congressional races in the US amounted to a race between a pro-war candidate and an even more pro-war candidate and most of the discussions of foreign policy between the two centered on which was which, the results of the election as they trickle in reveal a big win for the “even more pro-war candidate” types both in seats and influence. As the Republicans consolidate control over the House of Representatives and score big gains in the Senate, their most hawkish members are eagerly snatching up key foreign policy positions, with Howard McKeon (R – CA) looking to head the Armed Services Committee and bringing his support for endless war and “modernization” of nuclear weapons with him. Other representatves and senators, including Sen. McCain (R – AZ), Rep. Ros-Lehtinen (R – FL) and Rep. Eric Cantor (R – VA) also look to dramatically increase their influence, and to the extent any of them criticizes the Obama Administration’s hawkish positions it seems, invariably, to be for being not hawkish enough. Congressional rubber stamps for the wars are nothing new, but they seem poised to continue in a big way for the next two years (and indeed the forseeable future after that), and any hope the remaining antiwar Dems had for closing Guatanamo Bay or securing nuclear arms reductions will likely go out the window. ******************** ********* Maybe mccorpse will get to "bomb, bomb ,bomb,..... bomb, bomb, Iran after all. |

Yeah fuck the nukes. Way to waste money.
If we didn't have any nukes we'd have a rational argument to fuck up Iran if they made any. As it is we don't.

lbj , " the way i see it you can have more war or you can have more appeasement, and we dont want more of either".
sorry stoneric, but i would be the first person to applaud a war today if it stopped a nuclear holocaust from crazy pants ahmadinejad 5 years down the line. if that makes me a warmonger in your opinion then i suggest you join the neville chamberlain admiration society. ....seriously, if there are problems in the world, whats better to take them head on or to let them get worse and fester and then let our enemies bring the war to us on their own schedule? ...now keep in mind, for the last 2 years we have been showering the muslim world with platitudes about its morality and its greatness and its advancements in math and science, and our "half muslim" president has been begging them to stop with the march to nukes, and much of the arab world itself is basically in agreement with us on these issues, and iran has done nothing but bs obama even worse than he bsed bush.... so what do we do...try it ... again? to quote another former president " we cannot wait for the final proof, a mushroom cloud...." those statements have been lampooned so much that i dont think people actually realize the sense they encapsulate.

@komp , ok
![]() oh u were so ready to consider it credible if not for that right? if you werent totally biased you would see that that statement is meant to illusrate the way the muslims didnt consider obama an enemy and at the very least considered him to be the SON OF A MUSLIM so ok i guess thats not half muslim whatever you want to call it to make yourself feel better... the point is that even from someone like obama they didnt respond .... so the old arguments about bush are becomming more and more ridiculous.... iran ISNT going to stop NO MATTER WHAT...it has nothing to do with who is delivering the message or how "on their side" they appear.. all the cairo speeches in the world wont change that. and its not like that conclusion is a super happy one... i think most americans hoped that obamas way could spare us the shit that bushes ways caused... and i think many realists are now comming to a sad conclusion that that just wont happen. |

j, ok
![]() Keep trying to backtrack with 'what you meant,' because the arab world has no need to listen when we continue to bomb them for imaginary wmd's. PS. He wasn't really a son of muslim either, if you read up on his father. But you keep blaming other people's biases for your own if it makes you feel better.

i was thinking about whether to put the half muslim part in there, and thats exactly why i wanted to put it in, to talk about how they didnt change their tune whether it was bush or barack hussein obama...
then u wanna just shut down debate and in your own words dismiss the point im making. fine with me, at least the Congress wont do that anymore. |

I did, but you're the one hung up on the credibility lost, I did make another sentence and made more, which you ignored.
Sorry it only took two words to shut down your debate.

because we dont want them to use them ,
christ, its these types of arguments that wont be answered until a fucking mushroom cloud destroys our entire wonderful world that has the potential to keep getting better and having the small problems with it get smaller and smaller. nuclear war would be the end of it all. even if it started with only 1 nuclear bomb. no one should have nuclear weapons , INCLUDING US. |

We have more than enough nukes to completely destroy Earth. Do we really need any more than that?

i wish u guys could know that i agree with u in like 99% of dimensions but then i wish that u could agree with me in 1% of dimensions. because i think the reason u guys are so your way is because you know there are plenty of people like me who are my way to keep it from actually happening the way you guys "claim" it should be.
its like on hardball the other night when matthews was talking about how rand paul is gonna vote to not raise the debt ceiling, because he knows that enough others will vote to raise it, so the only reason he isnt supporting it is so he can look good while ultimately knowing that the less popular but vitally necessary position will win the day. |
