In order to capture al-Awlaki and bring him to the United States to face trial would be extremely dangerous for American Special Forces, and simply would not be worth the risk. He is deep in Yemeni territory protected by local tribes and militias. It would be reckless to insert US troops into those areas. Outsiders are simply not welcome, and will be captured and beheaded. We cannot operate in those areas, therefore the only way to achieve the objective is with good human intelligence and drones. Either way, to consider al-Awlaki worthy of a trial is beyond my comprehension. Major Nidal Hasan, who killed 13 people at Ft. Hood was directly influenced by al-Awlaki. They exchanged e-mails and al-Awlaki radicalized him, as an American soldier to kill innocent people. He was also directly responsible for the failed Christmas day bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, a young, educated Nigerian, who could have easily killed hundreds of innocent civilians if the bomb in his draws went off. That alone is enough for me. The quicker Anwar al-Awlaki is killed, the better off we are.

The idea of "good human intelligence(as if there is such a thing in those parts) and drones" doing the job takes out the risk factor for our huggable troops but takes out anyone in the vicinity. But what the fuck, eh? To say the dude who killed 13 people at Ft Hoood was influenced by al-awlaki and wouldn't have gone off otherwise is a bit of a stretch. Should we have the right to off anyone who influenced him? And the Christmas day bomber was a dupe. And again to say al-alwaki was directly responsible for his actions is unprovable. |

come on stoneric, his twisted views are a result of our twisted foreign policy... ? thats pretty fucked up, even for you.
....im not 100% up to snuff on the rules of war regarding american citizens, but if a us citizen goes to a foreign country and proceeds to engage in violent war against us, thats not only treason, but i cant see how we should have to haul him into an american courtroom before we can put a stop to his treasonous actions. |

Do I have to go back to 1953 again? How about 1980? Or 1991 ? Or 2001? Or 2003? At what point would you expect blowback? And speaking of treason, how about all those congressman who put a foreign country(israel)above their own? Maybe we can off cantor for saying he'd side with bibi over Obama? Get the fucking drones out. |

so he sent some black kid from sub saharan africa to light his draweres on fire and kill a bunch of people returning from vacation?
or got some crackpot to rig a printer cartiridge to blow up a ups plane delivering verscahe handbags to america... ? jeesus. what does 1953 have to do with that? blowback means whatever crazy shit these nutcases do its ok? even if their actions have absolutely no strategic purpose (like our various ones did) and are simply designed to kill as many innocent people as they can? i used to have this muslim kid in a class i was taking and when we would talk about things like the mohammed cartoons he would say "im against violence but i can at least see where they are comming from because when u insult something we hold dear then at least some people will get very angry and perhaps respond with violence, even tho i am against it, i can see how that would happen to some people..." you know what i say to that ? BULSHIT. |

Stoneric, I do agree with you in regard to the whole "1953-2003" thing.
Granted, our foreign policy has likely been wrong more often than it has been right. And it is obvious to anyone with common sense and basic knowledge that terrorism is the direct result of reckless and inconsiderate western foreign policy throughout many decades. But my point was simple: My opinion is that al-Awlaki has committed treason and is a direct threat to the US. It has been documented. He openly admits and exploits his treason and actually makes money off of it. He is an operational figure within the AQAP. He is arguably one of the most influential members of that organization, due to his grasp of English and Arabic and his knowledge of American culture. His motives are clear. Al Qaeda, whether it is in the Arabian Peninsula, Pakistan, or in the United States, is our enemy. They will stop at nothing to try and destroy us. And, al-Awlaki is a top member of that organization. Therefore, it is imperative that he be eliminated, whether that is by apprehending him, or killing him. He inspires young Muslims who are clearly confused about the true nature of their faith to launch a Jihad against America (the country he grew up in), based upon flawed realities and misconceptions. This fact may be the most dangerous. I just don't see how it is productive or logical to endanger more American lives by going deep into a hostile, foreign territory and attempting to apprehend him (which we couldn't) when their are safer alternatives. Clearly, we would rather capture him but we currently do not have permission to operate militarily within Yemen, in a serious way. Even if we did, going into the southern tribal areas would be highly dangerous. That is the same reason Pakistan's/our troops cannot operate in the FATA region of Pakistan. Either way, do we really need an American jury to determine that al-Awlaki is a treasonous fuck who openly and continuously advocates the brutal death of innocent people? It is willingly documented by him. I can respect your argument though, as it appears we are going down a slippery slope of not giving a fuck who we kill or how we do it, etc. And I do agree that shit has gotten out of control in many ways, especially during the Bush admin. But when it comes to killing al-Awlaki and those like him, I am in full support, as long as their is clear evidence. And in this case, their is. Getting rid of that scumbag will delay the progress of our enemy and ultimately save lives. Look up some of his videos and sermons and see if it doesn't change your mind.

Bravo! Forest for the trees all over the place on this one. The symptoms take all of the lime light whilst the true disease soldiers on (pun intended) unabated. Wanna understand why the U.S has such a deservedly shit name abroad?
American Hegemony - A Timeline Wanna understand why the Middle East is so fucked up in the first place? Just read up on the process of the great Western land grab that was an integral part of the Treaty of Versailles. England, France and the U.S. are reaping what they've sown, chickens are coming home to roost...which ever you prefer, but ultimately the world is finally beginning to evolve faster than the puppet masters' ability to control it. Thank gawd for the internet. Maybe that's why Yobama issued that Executive Order that allows him to pull the plug?...but I digress. So here's another conspiracy theory: maybe the truly dumb fuck nut jobs are sacrificed by the puppet masters just to remind everyone to be afraid. Maybe the constant thrusting of boogiemen in our face is intended to keep us feeling overwhelmed by problems that are just too big for li'l ole me to handle by myself, I just wish somebody would step in and take care of all of these big bad insert one)____________ (Muslims, Afghans, Iraqui's, Iranian's, Somali's, Bosnian's, whatfuckin' ever...). So da gubmint steps up and says "sure...don't worry your stupid little New World Order inculcated, brainless fucking believe whatever the State education factory shits into your head self. We'll take care of everything. There's just one little problem, you see we need this Constitution thing to wipe our ass with 'cuz we've run out of your money to use. Would you mind if we spy on every fucking thing that you do, say, think or wish? If you agree you're a Patriot!, If not...well you're a terrorist too." Ever stop to wonder why these people have all of this hate in the first place? Do you really think that's it's just because of some goofy fuck preachers? How did the preachers get that idea in the first place...was Allah tellin' Mohamed "hey go fuck the Westerners"? I wonder how Americans would feel about an Iranian deciding that he didn't like our elected leaders and having them killed so that he and his buds could steal our natural resources. I've got a life sized picture of Iranian or Iraqi troops patrolling our streets and runnin' our elections. Maybe they "liberate" Canada while they're here. Of course they could excuse it all by saying that they are bringing true democracy to us since we live in a republic that has been usurped by the banking cartel...and they'd be right AND they'd be doin' us a big fuckin' favor. You know what the greatest thing was about the Communists taking full control of China was? That they lined up all of the bankers and lawyers first and shot every mother lovin' one of those scumbag fucks in the head tout de suite. (and no I'm not a lover of any kind of collectivism bullshit...I just fucking hate bankers and lawyers that much) Don't waste your time being amazed by the shiny ball distractions that they keep plastered all over their media machine. The real problems and worry should be over shit like who controls our currency and why are we all so fucking broke? Look at the jizz puddles that get rich off of the wars and suffering and it becomes a lot more clear whose fucking who. Do you know anyone who wakes up in a cold sweat in the middle of the night because Iranian women have to wear a veil? Do we need to bring democracy there too? Give me a break! Oil and nuthin' but is why our young people are being killed and maimed to support Western hegemony. The controllers will be contented when we all work to serve their Fabian eugenic asses as one giant proletariat, exchanging the same common worthless scrip that they have created to replace real wealth. We'll all be one big happy collectivist society where like in any good socialist model, we all get just enough to keep us alive while the few at the top flourish. Meanwhile we'll continue to decline by the Rule of The Commons since all incentive to excel will have vanished. Our rulers do whatever the fuck the want and whatever they need to keep us subservient and fearful. Fuck them. Time for some good ole fashioned post revolutionary French "Terror". Time for them to fear us instead of them constantly telling us who to fear. ![]() Not that I'm particularly passionate about it or anything. You don't even want to get me started on somethin' important like Aussie rules vs. Real Rugby....

Of course nothing will change your mind. The Blame America First and anti- semetic Force is strong in this one. There's no evil in the world, only shades of grey. Except when it comes to the United States. Then we can talk evil. And any disagreement is from "brainwashing", no?
These poor people are just doing what they do because American foreign policy is bad...from 1953 onward, of course. We fight with one arm tied behind our collective backs, and it's still not fair. We chase some gang of pricks into a mosque, and the chase is over because Muslims delicate sensibilities may be offended and they'll start rioting...which they seem to be pretty good at. The Islamic World can't produce a car, but they can certainly produce a perpetually outraged flash mob at a moment's notice. It's nice that you'll never agree that the Executive Branch should never never be JJ&E. I'm sure that makes you think you sound all enlightened and all, but at the end of the day no one gives a shit what you think. Sometimes hard decisions have to be made. And thank God you or I don't have to make them. So I'm curious. You have all the answers to what we're doing wrong. Monday morning quarterbacking is pretty easy. Tell us how you'd fix it. Should be simple enough. How would you make the world love us? |

How in the fuck do you read anti-semitism in anything I wrote? And what does the executive branch having the right to assasinate american citizens have to do with "blame america first"? If anything I'm pro america because I believe in what it was founded on. You know, that 'god damn piece of paper'. We fight with one armed tied behind our backs? Where? Oh that's right, in Muslim countries. Jeez, we should have the right to chase them any god damn place we choose. How dare me think our foreign policy has anything to do with any kind of blowback. How far back in history am I allowed to go? Maybe the crotch bomber?I have a simple answer. Mind our own fucking business. Of course that would be considered isolationism and it's hard to be an empire that way. And compared to you I AM enlightened. |
