North Korea attacks South Korea - U.S. Strongly Condemns

Good thing we have troops in the region.

The good thing here is that it ACTUALLY happened.

No one is guessing.
Wondering what could happen.

Not that it's great that it did happen, but you get my drift?

Although, this could be fodder to trump up the recent Uranium enrichment plants.

Luckily young Kim has proven to be the voice of reason in this tribe.

Have you seen the videos of this thing? Wandering around, minding your own beeswax and all of a sudden artillary rounds are landing on the local Pizza Hut

I'm sure our UN ambassador will present the N. Koreans with a strongly worded letter.

We should have been gone from S. Korea years ago. They have a large economy and can provide for their own defense. The hawks must be masturbating, mccorpse doesn't even have to worry about putting boots on the ground since they're already there.

No, I doubt anyone is jerking to this. Absolutely nothing good can come from this.

Was anybody else here stationed in S. Korea?

I hope this is just another "incident" and it's as far as it goes.

What do you think the US would do if Canada shelled an American town?

My two cents: The North has nukes, so they know that any retaliation will be less than proportional. They just wanted to prove that point.

If Canada bombed, say, the Baldwins, I'm sure the US would put "Operation Get Behind the Darkies" into effect immediately.

Same with Iran but that doesn't matter. The war party is happy with any war.

I think you're pretty spot on. Just last week they invited an American physicist over and showed him the 2000 centrifuges they were using to enrich uranium. Add to that they're still technically at war, so for all the pants wetting that's being done today, this was a calculated thing that's going to get whatever the First Family and their cronies want.

I'd imagine that this is a fairly perilous time for the Kims. The Dear Leader is dying, plain and simple. The heir apparent is 26, with little if any cache with the older generals. There almost has to very high level meetings with some treasonous intentions. I give him a year after the old man dies before he and his cabinet are in...oh, probably a helicopter crash. The other brother should be much more moldable.

doesnt it make u feel safe when one of our closest and deepest allys (who joined us in iraq and afghanistan, stood side by side with us,) is literally attacked with bombs and u see smoke rising from their territory the same way or at least similar to the way people attacked us on 9.11.... obama , in keeping with his - "say what people expect u to but dont ever do anything besides words, and try to make those words as minimal while satisfying your responsibility as president of the us as possible".... has one of his aides , not him ,say hes "outraged." but then does nothing.

ok, im not neceesarily saying we should start a bombin n korea, but if bush were still president he would have a press conference and say something like i just talked to lee myung bak and expressed the condollences of the american people to the south korean people, and the world must stand united and tell kim jong il and his violent repressive regime that this agression against a tiny, peaceful neighbor, will not stand.

but yea that was when we had a president who wasnt phoning it it.

Obama only uses words but bush would have called a press conference and used WORDS.

While bush was on the phone he could have told his fellow neocon, bak, that conducting live exercises near disputed territory might provoke an unstable neighbor into doing something stupid.

Your revisionism on bush's president is showing through. "had a president who wasn't phoning it in" Fucking please.

so all words are the same?

psht. obama has just been so busy on international victory laps where nothing gets acomplished and michelle globe-hopping like a 21st century marie antoinette - while at the same time bitching and scratching about how we need to fuck those fatcats that create jobs and will eventually fix our economy - to notice or deal with any of these earth- shattering problems that are just off on the horizon.

i sure hope this shit can wait til 2012 because all our allies pretty much have no hope but a new admin...

unless obama does a 180 which i wouldnt be against- if he moves to the center id be all for listening to him- but the fact that reid and pelosi aRE STILL THERE even after the biggest loss in 60 years bodes pretty ill for that imo.
