whatever happened to that other thread? not partisan enough?

if you're going to maintain current withholding rates and at the same time restructure others(estate) there has to be a concurrent reduction of spending, otherwise you just keep compunding the amount owed (interest paid to government creditors(aka bond holders)

what a compromise, the worst of all possible ideas combined into one little package

why is the attitude of people like u always gotta be to make sure the "fatcats" dont get one more penny?

do u think they are gonna go and spend it on like chinese goods? or french goods?

its either the government takes the money and spends it how it sees fit (which would be inefficient and stupid and not make the money go to where the people actually think it should go but how some people in the washington bubble want it to), or its the people (including the richer people) take it and spend it in the best way they think possible...

the vast majority of the money we give back for tax reductions gets recycled almost immediately... but people like you and the liberals on msnbc etc they all seem to get like vicerally personally offended when rich people might be able to get some more money like on taxes or the estate tax , etc..

now keep in mind, the definition of rich according to obama is 200k a year or 250k a year for families... i dont make anywhere near that now, but i hardly think a family making 250k a year is rich to the point that people like you should be angry that the government is reducing their tax burden slightly... those 250k a year people are not living off rich parents endowments they are people who work 60-70 hours a week in a job that they had to go to college and graduate school for 10 years to get.... they are the most contributing members of society, and in many cases, they are nice people who give to charity and help the less fortunate and feel bad for them...

so first, i clearly see how giving those people (the less than 1 million or maybe less than 600k or something) people and small business a small tax reduction and letting them pass more of their life savings onto their offspring would help them feel more confident and spend more and expand their businesses and get back into the stock market , etc etc... all the things that we need to fix the economy.

but second, most of those people are good people, so i dont understand why someone like bernie sanders has to stand up and make a huge scene about how unjust it is for those hardworking highly educated straight living people who are actually the marrow and lifeblood of our society, should feel bad or ashamed that there are poor uneducated and downtrodden people in society as well... giving those people some money, or a kickback, isnt going to fix the fundamental problem, so acting like the 200k a year person is the real cause of why their are uneducated poor in inner cities etc is just not only ridiculous, but just not even accurate.

why do some far left type people consider any benefit to business or more well off people as a slap in the face to the poor- dont they understand that we need a prosperous society to be able to grow revenues and then use those higher revenues to give better care and support to the less fortunate.... and the only way we can get a properous society isnt by robbing those people who supposedly are so rich that its choking the poor... the accountant who makes 198k a year after 25 years of working hard in his industry and getting a cpa etc... that guy is these liberal people's enemy... and i just dont understand why they have this visceral negative reaction like hes sitting there lighting cigars with hundred dollar bills while the poor toil in dimly lit prisons for slave wages...

we need a middle class and an upper middle class to have a functional prosperous society that can supply valuable goods and services to ourselves , and export them to the world.... so when people work hard to actually acomplish those goals imo they should be applauded and given every extra help we can think of, tax cuts, payroll tax reductions, etc... because as jfk said 60 years ago the surest way to reduce the defecit is to have a growing economy and more and more people aspiring to work hard and earn good incomes , and yes, having higher revenues to pay for social services for the less fortunate as well. maybe u can help me understand it kami.

Problem is when the taxpayer is being raped to bail out banks paying bonuses. Like for the next 50 years.

Cocaine and hookers?

TBH though I'd support a flat 20% tax rate on earnings as long as it was applied mercilessly with no avoidance concessions.

Because they have a lot of money already and a few percentage points of income tax isn't going to be a big deal to them, whereas that money directed towards the working classes could actually make a difference.

One of the easiest places to cut spending has to be tax cuts for the wealthy.

Historically it's bad if wealth is hoarded by a few.

Edit- keep listening until the break- it only happens once but it's awesome .
