well... ever since the collapse of the cold war americans have been able to smugly laugh at every supposed "threat" to our power out there.

as 60s russian tech became 70s rusting hulks, became 80s repainted rusting 60s tech hulks we could just sit there and think , damn, the prospect of a war (at least one without nukes) is pretty much a joke, the biggest threat to our power was some cardboard cutouts of airplanes and painted on missles on the sides of old ww2 russian ships....

get ready folks, because we wont be paired up against some painted on russian bs anymore... these new chinese made war machines and missles are gonna be designed using more or less state of the art western tech, by people trained in state of the art western style engineering schools, using state of the art computer systems .... none of which the russians had even in the 80s....

get ready for a huge arms race, because the only way for us to maintain a deterrent is to get our shit together before their 5x population to ours can get their industrial complex fully functioning and pump out 5x the b2 bombers we could every day...


unless we maintain a qualitative edge, just like israel does over its neighbors... china will easily be able to overpower us militarily in the next decade or two....

the sad part is that this new vibrant growing place isnt some bastion of freedom, nor are the wills of the chinese people being directed into some utopian glorious endeavor like we were when we tried to create an empire of liberty and spread freedom to all corners of the world.

sure, we can probably still defend our territory, and if our allies keep up with us, european and nato and the rest's territory as well... but just imagine how much the balance of power in the world is gonna change when china starts rolling out 3 nuclear powered aircraft carriers a year to our 10 nimitz class ones that will be 20+ years old by then and getting older by the year with no replacements in sight...

its like a gutteral reaction, seeing these chinese missle systems, all shiny and new, looking like something boeing or northrop was rolling off the line...except these are for the glorious peoples liberation army as controlled by the communist peoples congress... not for the united world of free democracys trying to promote and defend liberty across the world.



all i can say is, a. this is seriously some scary and fucked up shit, and its only the very beginning of much worse to come. and b. we better concentrate our minds today while we still can because 10 years from now if we havent gotten ourselves on some good programs and in a solid direction to maintain our qualitative edge, we might as well all start learning mandarin and reading daily essays from the book of mao.
