TOM DELAY SENTENCED TO THREE YEARS IN PRISON

"U.S. judge sentences ex-House Majority Leader DeLay to 3 years in prison in money laundering scheme.

'A judge ordered former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay to serve three years in prison Monday for his role in a scheme to illegally funnel corporate money to Texas candidates in 2002.

'The sentence comes after a jury in November convicted DeLay on charges of money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering. DeLay was once one of the most powerful men in U.S. politics, ascending to the No. 2 job in the House of Representatives.'"

'Senior Judge Pat Priest sentenced him to the three-year term on the conspiracy charge. He also sentenced him to five years in prison on the money laundering charge but allowed DeLay to accept 10 years of probation instead of more prison time.'"

"*** UPDATE *** Another write-through from the AP:

There is some justice after all!
The Re-Districter from Hell Goes To Jail!

This bastard single-handedly illegally redistricted Texas to his likings for the Republican Party.

a real bad guy......really deranged.....

before Delay became the most powerful Republican in Congress and America, guess what his qualifications were?

He was the bug spray man........
he sprayed houses and apts. for insects and bugs.
I guess the bugs got their revenge.........

MSNBC's First Read reports: "Mark Murray writes:
The day's big non-Arizona political news, per the AP:

Pro Life? Not even anti abortionists...
Wall street's Spontaneous Abortionists

The study found strong evidence that a woman's exposure to pesticides in the three months prior to conception or in the month of conception significantly increased her risk of spontaneous abortion.

Preconception exposure to the pesticides glyphosate, atrazine, carbaryl, and 2,4-D increased relative risk of spontaneous abortion by 20-40%. Risks were even higher for women exposed to pesticides at age 35 or older and for women exposed to pesticide mixtures.

Switching cotton fields to hemp fields would improve: the quality of our soil, the durability of our clothes, the safety of our ground source water, the quality of our air, and the preservation of forests cut for paper (not to mention saving hundreds of thousands of lives prematurely ended by disease caused by pollution)

These pesticides wash into streams and rivers, destroying eco-systems and poisoning human water supplies. Today the water supplies of many large cities are contaminated. Many of the vegetables we eat and clothes we wear contain pesticide residues. Hemp is a perfect sustainable raw material for thousands of products. Textiles, cosmetics, building materials, fuel and food can all be made from hemp.

I can only imagine where he'll serve his sentence. In a perfect world, he'll be a pass around love toy for cell block 3.

"If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked."

As much as I can't stand weasels like Delay. I hope he learns something and honestly reports his experience. Though he'll get a celebrity cell no doubt. Maybe realize in the long run it all boils down to History and how we treat each other, especially the less fortunate that tells the story. Even with the Ganja censorship and edification's the truth is seeping out. Low life's like Anslinger, Hearst, Delay Klintoon and Nixon are being seen in a different light. The devastation caused by the drug war is slow to make the mainstream media but the net has it covered from many angles. No sooner does a gossip queen like Frum or Kookykowsky murmur their nonsense and 20 people are on their case. Dragging information, making them look plain silly except to the blind sheep in allegiance. Same with the Neocons reign is numbered. Sooner or later the normal folk will figure it out. Until then Delay can whine about Liberals being unfair convicting him. I just don't think he'll get the sympathy he's looking for inside. Maybe instead of locking people up for personal vices with no victims we can concentrate on frauds like "the hummer" or preventing violent senseless assassinations and police actions sucking in jobless kids.

The United States has the highest documented incarceration rate in the world. The U.S. incarceration rate on June 30, 2009 was 748 inmates per 100,000 U.S. residents, or 0.75%. The USA also has the highest total documented prison and jail population in the world.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) 7,225,800 people at yearend 2009 were on probation, in jail or prison, or on parole — about 3.1% of adults in the U.S. resident population, or 1 in every 32 adults.

In recent decades the U.S. has experienced a surge in its prison population, quadrupling since 1980, partially as a result of mandated sentences that came about during the "war on drugs." Violent crime and property crime have declined since the early 1990s.

Nearly one million of those incarcerated in state and federal prisons, as well as local jails, are serving time for committing non-violent crimes.

"Verily I say unto you, in as much as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethern, ye have done it unto me."

'Relax Your Muscles as Much as Possible'

Since 1980, JDI has worked to end the sexual abuse of detainees, in the U.S. and around the world. At the heart of JDI’s mission lies a conviction that when the government removes someone’s freedom, it takes on the absolute responsibility to protect that person’s safety. JDI works with policymakers, corrections leaders, advocates, and prisoner rape survivors to end this form of violence, once and for all. No matter what crime someone might have committed, rape is not part of the penalty.

"Prison rape not only threatens the lives of those who fall prey to their aggressors, but it is potentially devastating to the human spirit. Shame, depression, and a shattering loss of self-esteem accompany the perpetual terror the victim thereafter must endure."
U.S. Supreme Court Justice Harry A. Blackmun, Farmer v. Brennan

Seriously, if I wanted to I could just throw the next gay guy I come across right up against a wall and give him an anal assault and he wouldn't complain one bit.
