the government had google earth in 1963...
The keyhole program of satelites has been around for years and years. It was preceded by the corona series of satelites...the very first to take high res images from space. by most accounts the corona satelite could see up to a 6 foot resolution- basically no worse than we have today...at least commercially, and this was during EISENHOWERS presidency...
by 1963, several generations of the next gen keyhole satelite were launched and up and running- providing imagery to perhaps 1 meter or ever better. this was 1963- lets see what else was common in 1963- gas was like 40 cents a gallon, cars got 8 mpg, and ads said "more doctors choose camels than any other cigarette". ![]() cool link http://edc2.usgs.gov/pubslists/factsheets/fs09096.pdf the imagery they had of cape canaveral in 1963 is roughly equivalent (or better) to the commercial imagery we have today. and even tho the current KH satelite is KH 14 or 15 or something, no photos from any KH satelite after like kh 5 or 6 was ever released and is still classified. ....1963 was 50 fucking years ago, and the government had google earth on their fucking computers all the way back then... with resolution that puts some current imagery to shame... just imagine what the later keyhole pictures look like. pretty cool shit. I wonder if the stuff obama knows today will come out in our lifetimes.... he must know some pretty awesome stuff. ill tell u one thing for sure- he was able to follow the protests in egypt a lot better than any of us were.

I'd be much more interested to have some of the shit Bushco and his crooked cronies know come out in at least their lifetimes so maybe they can be prosecuted and receive the punishment they deserve for fucking this place up as bad as they have.

and one other cool thing about these satelites is that they are basically the same quality as the hubble space telescope but directed back towards earth instead of into space.... kinda sucks that we didnt have one pointed out into space all those 50 years ago - think of all the changing shit we might have seen and now we could compare hubble pictures to those early ones and shit.... (and also, it shows how we probably could and do have satelites 100x better than hubble being used right now and its a shame we cant use them for space research until 50 years from now... )

Wow, I'm just as surprised at the government using foresight and planning as you are...
What's not surprising is that the tech took that long to reach the private sector...

What kind of displays did they have in the 60's? Or did they use high resolution multi-color printers instead? Are you trying to say the US government had high-def LCD's back in the 60's? Come on... |

no, but they had pretty comparable imagery, even if not the same kinds of screens to display em on.
i mean also supposedly hk (at least the unclassified ones) were black and white so obviously not exactly but pretty damn close. and that was the early 60s one who knows about the later still classified ones |

Jwonder, you post the stupidest shit. Google earth is essentially a program for mapping imagery around a Mercator sphere. The government did not have this in 1963.
Two other fun flaws in your argument are; 1. Google hires this camera for it's imagery; GeoEye-1 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Which has 41cm focal range, compared to 25 feet in '63... 2. The majority of high resolution images on Google were shot from planes, not satellites. U jelly?

I used to work with USC&GS high res photos for accurate topographical information, and for comparrison with elevation maps, and highway layouts to calculate borrow and fill excavation for Penn DOT. 1972-1973 Clearfield,PA. District 2-0 office.
The whole USC&GS project was to map the US (which became global) due to military and Oil interests/funding. Yes most of Google is shot in good old high resolution film emulsion. not sats. However, all of the "eyeballing" series from Cryptome are satellite. Illegally comondeered, ...and are of places where satellites aren't supposed to be able to look. ![]() usually with clarity they aren't supposed to have. ![]() from people you will never meet.

They had it in 1963, they let us have it recently, imagine what they have now.
