What’s wrong with Montana GOP?

What’s wrong with Montana GOP?
Pete Guither, DWR

I always thought that Montanans had quite the independent streak. They thumbed their noses at the Feds when it came to speed limits. They considered themselves kind of frontiersmen who didn’t need the government telling them everything. Their conservatism was really more closely related to a form of libertarianism, I thought.

That may be true of the population, but it certainly doesn’t seem to be true of their GOP leadership.

I don’t know if you’ve been following this, but the GOP has apparently found the most pressing thing they need to do in Montana state government is to repeal the state’s medical marijuana law which was passed by the people 62 percent to 38 percent! continued...

‘Nightmare’ of Medical Marijuana Threatens Kids

Same paper, same place

Repeal of Medical Marijuana Law Makes No Sense
Why is repealing medical marijuana backward and mistaken? Because cannabis is making a huge, positive medical difference in the lives of thousands of good Montanans. Because it makes no moral or economic sense to redefine these genuine patients as criminals and to force them back onto the narcotics that helped them less and caused worse side effects. Because a patient who has had no seizures since switching to cannabis (and used to have a dozen every day) can’t fairly be asked to go back to a “life” on the drugs that didn’t work. full story

Jeffrey’s Journey

By age seven, Jeffrey had already been prescribed more than a dozen drugs to control his violent rages. Nothing had helped.

Then state officials gave Jeffrey’s mother an ultimatum: Find something to help your son or lose him to institutional lock-down.

Extensive research convinced this conservative, Christian mother that medical marijuana could be her son’s last hope.

Jeffrey’s Journey chronicles the success of Jeffrey’s treatment, as well as the family’s court battle defending their son’s right to unconventional medicine.

This family’s story makes clear that, for parents, the need to relieve a child’s suffering must transcend politics.

Seattle's First Cannabis Farmers Market
As at most farmers markets, table after table came stocked with goodies, touted for their locally grown, healthy, organic qualities. Baby-boomers in berets mingled with twenty-somethings in dreadlocks, eyeballing potted plants, pasta, pizza, cute little cupcakes and Mason jars full of green buds — lots of jars. This was not your grandpa's market. It was the first Cannabis Farmers Market in Seattle. And an estimated 600 medical-marijuana patients strolled through the doors of the Little Red Studio in the South Lake Union neighborhood to partake, organizers said. full story

Our House of Reps is insane and have been introducing all sorts of draconian bullshit. Luckily the bill to repeal MMJ probably won't pass the Senate and even if it DOES has a good chance of being vetoed by our democrat governor.

The 51 under 18 thing is just propaganda to scare adults from medical marijuana.

If I have an illness I would like the best treatment available, if my son had an illness and marijuana was the best treatment, why give them something else?

DEA raids Montana

VIA MPP

The Republic

Federal agents with guns drawn raided up to a dozen medical marijuana operations across Montana on Monday, the same day that a bill to repeal the state’s medical marijuana law stalled in a Senate committee.

Coincidence or political?

Montana NORML is live blogging updates on the raids.

Coincidence or political?
Stupid question…

We moved way passed coincidence when Anslinger planned raids to coincide with political events. Every election this becomes a banner for GOPerverts. Same game as the Koch blood suckers. Boosh Cheney War Inc.

More GOPerversions.

Cover-Ups, Prevarications, Subversions & Sabotage

The federal government’s lack of credibility on medical marijuana raids

Michele M. Leonhart (Lying Heart)

“She has proven her leadership to be anti-science, pro-lying, pro-death and destruction, and devoid of competence, so the Senate decided she was perfect for this job”. ~ Pete Guither DWR

DEA Nominee Pledges To Ignore Administration

Apparently Michelle Leonhart, President Obama’s nominee to direct the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, didn’t get the memo. Speaking yesterday before the Senate Judiciary Committee, on day one of her Senate confirmation process, Leonhart pledged to ignore the administration’s formal medical marijuana guidelines.

In February of 2009 Eric Holder vowed to end DEA raids on Medical Marijuana. In his statement he said, “the Justice Department will no longer raid medical marijuana clubs that are established legally under state law.” But left in place from the dubya era is Michele Leonhart. Ms. Leonhart is defying the administrations ban on raids against legal growers.

Multiple DEA Raids Target Marijuana in Hawaii
Hawaii’s THC Ministry and the homes of several medical cannabis growers were raided Wednesday by federal agents from the United States DEA and IRS.

Ashes At The End of Rainbow Farm
The question that lingers five years later is how in the world a minor-league dope bust managed to go so wrong, and how this stoner utopia, albeit one with connections to the Michigan Militia, passed in just a few months from flawed paradise to nightmare — a small-town tragedy detailed in a new book by Dean Kuipers, “Burning Rainbow Farm.”

Government Shows No Compassion for Medical Pot
On the morning of January 13, 2004, Tehama County prosecutor Lynn Strom unexpectedly announced that the state of California was dropping charges against Cynthia Blake and David Davidson for possessing and growing cannabis with the intent to distribute. While the two medical marijuana patients waited in the courtroom, Strom and the defense attorneys disappeared inside the judge’s chambers to discuss the motion to dismiss. Moments later, more than a dozen sheriff’s deputies pounced on the hapless couple, handcuffed them, and shoved them into an unmarked police car waiting outside the courthouse in the Sacramento Valley town of Corning. They were already en route to jail in Sacramento when Strom informed their lawyers that the state was bowing out because the Feds were taking over the case.
