The next BIG earthquake?

What do you think of Jim Berklands comments y'all? He apparently predicted the 1989 quake 4 days before it happened.. and is saying that another WC earthquake is possible. San Andreas fault isn't it that runs through CA?

Earthquake prediction - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

How strong is the correlation between strange animal deaths, the moon and earthquakes? Interesting stuff.

I find this interesting as well. I don't know enough about the sciences involved to have a real opinion though.

It's pretty basic and fairly easy to understand. The tectonic movements are not caused by moon's gravitational pull, but by Earth's burning core and mantel physically trying to cool down. The Earth's crust is basically a loose solid mass made out of plates, floating on a fluid mantel, almost like a ship in the ocean on a massive scale.

The forces are actually not as big as they appear to us, it's us who are small and insignificant compared to it. Mother Nature is just doing its thing, a catastrophic earthquake that kills hundreds of thousands of people is really not a big thing on nature's scale.

I don't he was saying tides caused earthquakes as much as he was saying they maybe helped them along? I don't know about that one but, some sort of correlation with the dead fish and quakes might be possible.

On the other hand... I just read that 90% of all earthquakes happen on the "ring of fire", so to predict one within 4 days might not be that hard to do.

Read his site...he makes the same exact prediction every single year:

SyzygyJob - Home

Quote:
As previously mentioned, the Seismic Window of June 12-19, 2010 will include the new Moon syzygy of June 12th. Perigee will follow in three days and the combination will produce 8.1-ft. tides at the Golden Gate every day from June 13 to 15, the greatest tidal ranges in three months. With 80% confidence, expect the following quakes:

(1) 3.5-6.5M within 2-degrees of Mt. Diablo (Lat 37.9N; Lon. 121.9W)

(2) 3.5-6.5M within 2-degrees of Los Angeles (34.0N; 118.0W)

(3) 3.5-6.5M with an epicentral address of Washington or Oregon.

(4) 7.0+M major quake globally, most likely in the Pacific Ring of Fire
Quote:
PREDICTIONS FOR JULY

The Seismic Window for July 19-26, 2009 is exceptional, with the longest total eclipse of the sun during this century. Also we will have the closest perigee of the year on July 21st. only six hours from the eclipse. Furthermore, the highest tidal forces of the year arrive on July 21st, with Golden Gate tides ranging to 8.9 ft. within 0.3 ‘ of the maximum possible.

I am predicting with 90% confidence that there will be quakes of the following parameters during this Seismic Window:

1. 3.5-6.5M within 140 miles of Mt. Diablo (37.9N. 121.9W)

2. 3.5-6.5M within 140 miles of Los Angeles (34.0N; 116.0W)

3. 3.5-6.0M within Washington or Oregon

4. 7.0M+ globally, especially within the Pacific Ring of Fire
Quote:
APRIL PREDICTIONS

The Primary Seismic Window of April 23-30, 2009 begins a run of 7 consecutive months where the new Moon is incorporated, rather than the Full stage. The new Moon is on April 24 and Perigee is three days later. The maximum tidal ranges on April 27 reach 7.7 ft. at the Golden Gate and 14.7 ft. at Puget Sound.. At Los Angeles outer harbor the maximum tide will be 7.4 ft. on April 26th. There is an 80% chance for one or more earthquakes with the following parameters:

(1) 3.5-6.5M within 140 miles of Mt. Diablo (37.9N; 121.9W)

) 3.5-6.5M within 140 miles of Mt. Diablo (37.9N; 121.9W)
(2) 3.5-6.5M within 140 miles of downtown Los Angeles (34.0N; 118.0W)

(3) 3.5-6.0M with an epicenter located in Washington or Oregon.

3.5-6.0M with an epicenter located in Washington or Oregon.
(4) 7.0+M major quake globally, probably in the Pacific Ring of Fire, where more than 80% of the world’s strongest earthquakes occur annually. (Only 6 such events to date.)
He's bound to get something right after this long.

Anyway, he said the 18th, its the 20th...just another batch of fear to keep people distracted.

Statistically, one correct guess does not equal anything. Even a broken watch is right twice a day. I will reserve judgement until I can give this the consideration it deserves from the rubble that was once my house.

I do like the theory that planets in alignment (syzygy) would have a greater attraction or pull on earth , like magnets in a row, or mutual induction.

but it doesn't work that way.

If the moon has a dramatic effect on fluid masses tho, then it stands to reason that it would also have an effect of the fluid mass which is the earth's core. Seeing as the earth is mostly core (with a thin candy shell)
